Conquest 05: Results and Congratulations

Congratulations everyone: a very tough competition. This was my third tenth place in 4 submissions :scan: , which leaves me in a pretty good spot to see that the overall level of play is improving alarmingly.

I just wish I had submitted a qsc. Is there an easy way to work out what my qsc score would have been from a 1000bc save?

Email it to me with your timeline - alanh <at> gotm.civfanatics.net. As we are only just getting the QSC going again, I think we can accept late QSC entries for this game. This will be the last one with a concession.

Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I can't seem to locate my timeline  and so I fear the submission would fall into the "cheesy" category. I will be sure to submit a qsc from now on.

Pity! Never mind, Dianthus has QSC scoring in his CRpSuite, and I think he and Ainwood worked together to ensure that they get roughly the same answers.

thanks, bradleyfeanor. Your finish date was impressive for any version on a standard map

Did anyone other than Ronald and Sir Pleb stick with the AAC?

Me. And I also happy with it. My personal fastest victory, my personal best score and my personal best ranking - 13th place. And I like this number

I'll say. My 10 955 Jason was only good enough for 25th!

On another point, the competition must have hit the spot for a lot of people with 190 submissions, the most of any COTM so far!

The highest scoring 20k victory (gozpel) is on place 99. bed_head's impressive 1620AD scores #109.
Any questions?

Also, it really feels wrong when a 1924AD 20k is the third highest scoring 20k victory, with a number of early 1800's behind.
Not that it's all about the date, but 1924AD is a lot later...

Oh, and congrats to all those 10k score breakers!

I even failed in my bid for lowest scoring spaceship victory :) .

Congrats to all of the winners.

Edit: Is this the most participants that have played a xOTM?
Some of this sort of information shows up in the Statistics graphs.

If someone were to win a 20k victory on this map around 1620AD and score in the 11-12k Jason range would that put your mind to ease on the issue?

 Yes.
Point is, 20k is the only victory type where you really have to sacrifice early expansion in favor of your 20k city (usually the capital). The curve simply suffers from the later growth.
10k scores and 20k cultural around 1800 are not that problematic, as well as UN or Space victories at any time.

Please note, by no means I want to threadjack this for a complaint about the scoring system (it is as good as it could be without MAJOR work). It just shows again that someone should better not go for 20k if he doesn't want to end in the bottom third of scores.

Congratulations to all the winners.

I'm happy too, got my first top 10 finish.

This sounds to me like Aeson is saying it could be played to that date / score range, and may in fact be playing the game right now to prove it. :mischief:

I'm still working on it Alan. The currently released version (2.7.5) still has some bugs in the QSC scoring. My current (not quite released yet) version gets real close to the official values (within around 10 points). I'm working with ainwood to get it exact.
