A 'fix' for the Barbarians!: As many of you know, the barbarians in C3C are 'broken'. This can be fixed by going to your \Conquest\ folder, and opening your Conquests.ini file, and adding a line noaipatrol=0 to the file. Whilst we cannot force people to do this, it will make the game a bit more interesting if you do.

Alternatively, if you're not comfortable with editing the .ini file yourself, download the utility attached to the bottom of this post, and it will do it automatically for you.

Also: Remember to submit your QSC timelines and saves! :D

Download the starting saves from the release page here.

here we go again; thanks staff

Eh ... what exactly is wrong with da barbs?

How detailed does the QSC timeline have to be ?

Edit: nm, found it. (Answer: very.)

One point regarding QSC submission...

First of all, thanks for the great work bringing QSC up-to-date. I will enjoy writing timelines more now :)

Second, as I understand it the QSC result procedure is quite automated, right? If this is the case, would it be possible to move the QSC submission date to the same date as the GOTM/COTM submission date? If I remember correctly, the QSC submission date was placed ten days earlier to spread out the workload for Cracker collecting the results from both competitions. If there is an automated process, then I see no reason why the QSC submission can't be on the same day. Ok it's only ten days after all, and playing to 1000bc is not too time consuming, but just opening up the option to submit a QSC also for late-in-the-month-players could be an idea.

Neither QSC nor final GOTM processing is completely automated. Although the basic file checks are carried out on the fly, both sets of submission files have to be downloaded and run through a more complete scoring and checking process on someone's PC. Then the output data generated is uploaded to add data to the database, and the whole data set is eyeballed and queries raised and handled on some games. In the case of the QSC a .crp file also has to be created from the submitted files and the start position map produced.

None of thse actions takes a long time in itself, but we do have to fit them in, for two games a month, between other tasks, including reading and responding to these threads, and maybe even playing the games ourselves :mischief:. And some of us have RL and day jobs to cope with as well

All in all, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask that players arrange to play the first 80 turns within 3 weeks of the game being published. QSC entry is not compulsory for you, but results delivery *is* for us!

Goody, goddy, Will start this tomorrow :D

Allright, I started it. Only 5 turns in it, and I think I allready made some silly mistakes. I now have to do some analysis, which scares me. So I'm leaving it now to go to bed, and I'll try to continue tomorrow.

Moderator Action: No discussion here once you've opened the save, please Wait for the spoiler thread.

Poster action: I avoided talking about specifics, and will continue to do so, until the spoiler thread is open.

Wish I could say the same. Got to play Bede03 tonight, probably SGOTM4 tomorrow night, then finish GOTM36 on Wed & Thurs and then I'll probably be up in JumpMasters 1A again, so that's on Friday. So if DocT04 stays in limbo for another week, I'll probably be able to start this one by next weekend. In all likelyhood, this month is going to be a single game month, unless I decide to make December a single game month. I remember something about the December games having a special surprise, so November is probably going to get shorted.

I don't understand something. What difference does NoAIPatrol=0 make if the barbarians are set to sedentary, as in this game?

Not much difference at all. The only time you'll see Barbarians in a sedentary-barbarians game is when a non-expansionist civ pops a goody-hut and meet Barbarians.

Note this also affects the AI Civs: They patrol their borders again, which is admittedly only begging for shift locked, but they also move those units again that were leftover from an earlier war. And this leads to less "Move or Declare" situations.
Also, they're no longer blocking tiles outside their territory for thousands of years.

I find Monday releases an evil thing. I can't not play, but I can't get more than 60 min at a time until Saturday. :(
