Conquest game: 2

Especially if it's Ghandi you have to kill! Show the dude that pacifism only works until you come across a sadist.

Honestly, though, Ghandi is usually my last target on my landmass just because he is such a small threat.

What are the advantages to taking your continent? First of all, no one for you future enemies to ally against. Second, you will be more secure with no one near you. Also, science will jump with so many farms. Finally, who doesn't want to paint the map their color?

***note***
There are only three luxs on the continent so 4 happy faces is all i get. my size 7 capital has 3 happy 1 content and 3 unhappy citizens. so i have halted growth.[/QUOTE]

As soon as you research currency start building marketplaces in your cities over size six. They have a happiness multiplier built in. If you have a tech lead start trading some of it for luxes from the AI. You can also use the luxury slider under the science slider to keep people happy. Once again if you're the tech leader you don't need to keep the science slider at 100%. Growth is the most important part of the game. Get big fast.

I think the reason why Gandhi attacks late in the game has to do with his traits. Commercial means that he gets stronger as the game goes on. Religious means that he has cheap culture and happiness buildings, so he can keep more of his people working and not being clowns, plus he can switch governments easily. War elephants means he can always kick off a GA, regardless of resource availability.

This makes for a very dangerous AI, regardless of aggression, late in the game. He's a pushover early, though.

Here's the thing, basically what i am hearing is that i should attack just to attack them.....

I would rather wait until they threaten me. they own very little of the continent and have just 9 cities.

England on the other hand.... I went to war once and beat them down to 4 cities in a small corner and then sued for peace to rebuild my army. now they have slipp to the back side of my empire and build 3 cities in the tundra.

Everyone is telling you to attack, so instead of asking advice and ignoring it in favor of waiting, why not attack? At least post a screenshot so we can see how the map is going.

Hmmm, there are some interesting comments here about Ghandi (or is it Gandhi?) I've definitely learned something about how the AI works based on those comments...
