THE BATTLE OF ANTIUM:
The 5th Amsterdam Medium Inf (Medieval Inf), 51st Amsterdam Cavalry & 58th Hague Cavalry(2 Horseman) def. Horseman and Warrior (Spanish) and capture the city.

I just want the world to know that I did attack Spain because I felt it was in best interest of Dutch State. Although Spain did not show any hostile actions towards the Dutch, the long border (almost 30 tiles 100 miles each...3000 miles) that we share deeply concerned me.

If only I had those units right now...Detlef would be in as big a trouble as the entire Central Powers are in the WW1 PBEM.

Actually, there wasn't anything to report this past turn except that I would like to thank my newest ally, Maverick of the Indians, for joining in the fight against the imperialistic Spanish...

C'mon, that's hardly fair! I mean, sure it was disgraceful for Spain to take out our future partners the Romans, and then provoking a war with the Zulu was not the next smartest move, I might have to consider coming to the aid of Spain.
 
@Dutch: imperialistic, is what we have together BK. you collected your allies because of your fear about the spanish power. 1 against 3 is nothing you can proud of.

@Indies: shame about you, what you've done isn't in the mind of Ghandi. You sayed yes to the payment of the dutch to join this allie.

@Celts: prepare yourself, you can be the next on the list of this allie

I warned you not to continue to take Roman land; And what do you do, take all of it?

As far as I am concerned making sure my enemey is severely outnumbered is nothing that will hurt my pride. I consider it extremely good diplomacy. And regardless of who started the war with you and the Zulu, I have been building up troops and planning an invasion of at least all of old Rome since you occupied it.

I also don't blame the Indians for joining. I would not turn down an offer of 6 or so techs to catch back up. Maybe that will come back to bite me as I might have just given Maverick the chance to win Culturally...
 
Turn played and no news of significance to report.

I do want to release a statement. My aim of the war is not the complete distruction of the Spanish Empire. I merely wanted to push Detlef's forces out of Old Rome and Antium in particular. As leader of the Dutch I will not order my forces into origional Spanish territory (all those not in Old Rome) unless Spanish troops invade what was origionally Dutch territory (that means that unless you can attack Antium without violating this decree). What the Zulu and Indians do is up to them.

Also, except for satisfying other states involved (India in particular), if the above decree is violated, any origional Spanish cities (those not in Old Rome) captured by the Dutch will be returned to Spain at the conclusion of the war (18 more turns).

What you mean is that you are angree that i was faster with taking out rome than you. But rome was an one on one and i told you if you are fast, you can have a piece of the cake. Your failure was your speed, defnetly too slow.

You can be shure, i'am a warmonger and i lovly die at the field. I fight until the last town falls.

PS: Don't take this as real, it's just a game and all i say is part of this. :)

What I am wondering is if the Spanish dictator is such a warmongerer, why is he complaining about the war, I might not come to his aid after all.
 
Just one thing about the the former Roman Citizens not wanting to join my Empire...there is only one left in Antium while the other is Spanish. The rest of the Roman Cities were burnt to the ground during the Spanish-Roman War...even Rome itself.

Seriously Detlef, I promise that I will only be advancing as far as the river that runs through old Rome (that is two more cities). What my allies do is uncertain...

the Celts are trying to figure out if there is a need for them to become involved in this war, so far it seems we are receiving some confusing messages and we are highly questioning everyone's motives, except our own of course ;)
 
After seeing that Spain has reinforced Zaragosa (I think that is the town). The offensive into Roman territory has been called off. We are also currently retraining our troops.

Also, I want to reassure the members of the alliance that I will be fighting until the conclusion of my military alliance with India. I apologize if any of my thoughts and actions have strained what have, to this point, been very good relationships.

And lastly to Spain: I was able to out manuever you (fairly I might add) through diplomacy and have no regrets of doing so. You apparently wanted war. From everything I gather, you declined the Zulu's threat to thus start the war because you had every intent to gain territory. This view is based on the fact that he did not ask for an alliance against the Zulu, nor a non-aggression pact of some sort.

To the Zulu thing, if i understand you correct, you say i havn't asked you to join a war against the zulus. Thats a lie, i can copy the mail in which you sayed no to an pact against the zulus. You sayed, you have other plans and you want join. (we now know what this plan was)
Thats why i didn't attack the zulu right after the romans.
The zulus were faster, they marched with 3 units into my territory and i sayed leave it or pay. I don't think that you wait until they capture the first city.

I don't know why i explain so much, do what you wanna do.
 
You proposed a joint alliance and invasion of Zululand long before they attacked (well at least 10 turns). Your intent was to attack them. I wouldn't see that as a request for a military alliance after they attacked... I did not know that they had entered your territory with 3 units... Nevertheless, my plan was to attack you once you invaded Zululand... Since you did not post that they declared war on you or that they had entered your territory like that I assumed that you had decided to go and attack them. It is unfortunate that I had made previous plans and also that I was not notified of all the details of the situation.
