When it comes to the unavoiable conflicts that arise in MP games, I feel as If I am doing something drastically wrong. My archers vs enemies knights is of no real challenge for anybody who has come up against me so far.

I expand as quickly as happiness and growth allows, and Im always trying to found new cities (where happiness will not diminsh and stunt growth).

I can get into the specifics (ask if you want examples), but ultimately Im in need of some advice.

Thanks in advance.

Build libraries, universities, and other things that help with science.

Also, consider using the Rationalism Social Policy Branch. It helps with science alot, and the last thing in it that you adopt gives you two free technologies.

But be warned:If you're depending on the Peity branch for happiness, then be cautious about changing to Rationalism, because they can't both be active at the same time.I saw this the hard way.Lol:lol:

Use generals citadels around ur cities they can be extremely effective in holding off enemies, they always do 3 dmg no matter how advanced their units are plus 100% fortification to any units inside. try and use nations like china or england. The chinese have crossbowman that can shoot twice and the longbowman can shoot 3 tiles i believe. just today i got besieged early on and it crippled my science but i was able to survive with a few archers in the citadels and this lasted right up until he had artillery and infantry and quit due to his wife wanting supper i guess lol.

even though he was a full age ahead in tech he couldnt sack the city cuz the citadel would drop any melee units an auto 3 plus double attack from the crossbowman which gets u min 2 per dmg per unit.

probably even more important is the placement of your capital. i planted my city in a place easy to defend hills and mountains all around so they cant advance more than 1 at a time and had to come in through chokepoints. I also had the city placed with a river on 3 sides for the -20%. use traditions oligarchy too for the 100% ranged bonus for cities

Also sounds like u may be wasting too much time trying to expand and stretching urself thin. u only need 2-4 cities really.

Try to get national college in your cap ASAP. Don't build too many cities before you have it.

Can you give us some more specifics? What turn are you getting attacked? How many cities do you build? What are you researching? What do you build first in you cities? That will help us give you specific advice on how to help you.

For some general advice: Make sure you have up to date military. Also watch demographics and try to not fall behind the person with the highest military.
