The contents of the Civilization IV box in Europe is known from civilized.de. There is a 220 page manual, a tech tree and a DVD with five languages: English, German, Spanish, French and Italian. You can select the language during installation.

Alas, Catalan is only spoken in Catalunya, not in Latin America.

Any info on speech in the game? Will it also be localized? Although I'm after the anglophone version, speech in other languages might be amusing.
I assume the speech is also localised, but don't know for sure.

I remember a beta-tester, maybe Solver, saying somewhere it's localized.

Edit: that's for the units; I remember something being said about a Japanese worker speaking in Japanese. I now realize that may not be what Anima Croatorum meant.

Slightly offtopic, was there any info about the amount of speech in the game? I only heard about Leonard Nimoy as narrator. What about diplomacy? Do leaders speak?

No, the only speech is that of Nimoys narrating the quotes when reaching a tech.

So... Where's the pdf of the manual? You know, to tide us over the next few hours.

So once again, the nice goodies in the pre-order edition are (virtually) unattainable to us europeans...?

Bad marketing  ...

Unattainable? There's a big manual, a teach tree and a great DVD with a game and five languages to pick from. The only thing it lacks is the silly spiral and the dull fake leather box. I'd say that is a pretty good deal for a "standard" edition.

What more can anyone want? The rest is useless clutter that ends up somewhere within the sofa.

My comment about Catalan wasn't entirely serious. But I don't think Latin America is a very relevant consideration for a DVD to be sold in Europe. Nor are German, French, or Italian widely spoken in Latin America, as far as I know.

My Catalan father-in-law has relatives settled in Peru for many years. I'll bet there is at least some Catalan spoken in Latin America...

Without Latin America Spanish market is not big enough to bother much with localising, and Euro version pretty much covers Europe and ROTW that writes in Latin.

I've ordered mine from play.com for £17.99 (about $25) - UK only.
