Don't forget Romans would definitely be in, as well as Russia.
The key for Civ5 civilizations is diversity and global coverage. It doesn't matter that Polynesia had small populations, it was from a part of the world that had not been covered before and that's cool. Still don't see any need for another African civ. South America, yes, and perhaps the Sioux or the Inuits.
People are being too generous with the super power definition...
If korea is a super power becuase manchuria and songhai because west africa, them Brazil is too a super power. Brazil has conquered, negociated or defended more than 50% of S. America for more than 300 years already.
I dont defend that Brazil is a super power, but I think some of you are changing arguments just to deny Brazil acess to the game. The same people who are now defending that civs need to be "historic relevant", not long ago said that the important thing was the unique gameply or the geographic representation.

A friend of mine just noted a interesting fact, that from the top ten economies of the world from the last 30 years, only Brazil is not in the game. Dont matter if they are modern (USA) or very ancient (China), they are all already on CiV.

OK, bona I can agree with that.
For example, I love ancient powers. For me, civs like minoans, hitites, Parthia, Thrace, Sumer should be already in the game. Even if some countries like netherlands and korea should be replace.
Nokmirt, Brazil is not a super power.
Brazil had a diferent position about Iran that the one defended by USA, I wouldnt say that was a friendly position, only that was one open to diplomacy. USA is all about economic pressure, and the governement of Brazil knows that this kind of pressure only makes things worse for the iranian population.
Theres right now in S. America a process of militarization. Because of many factores:
Argentina is getting weapons because of the Falklands/Malvinas question.
Venezuela is buying tanks and jets from Russia because they are cheap and Chaves loves to show power.
Colombia is getting weapons because of the FARC and because of Chaves.
Brazil is buying tanks and jets because since the military governement on the 1970s, the army was forgotten. Brazil army right now is obsolete and need to modernize.
The fact is that, besides the Incans, there was no other remarkable civilization in South America. If they decide to include another civ from there, the only reasonable option will be Brazil.
I'd certainly call them the most impressive, but they're hardly the only one. Several came before - The Huari, Tiahuanaco - and they had contemporaries (as I'm sure Gucumatz would love to mention, the Chachapoya).
I always thought of Superpower being... Superpowers. There were only a few in the history, like the British Empire, USA and USSR. Right now, USA is the only one, albeit that may change due to endogenous factors and China ascension. Anyway, if people are expecting the 9th civ to be a superpower, then we are not going to have any new civ at all.
