Continents Plus, it's weird.

anyone like "Continents Plus"??

i like it, in the way that you 1) can't abuse CS's early at all (they're mostly off continents) and 2) it kinda forces (but not necessarily) that you actually prioritize Optics and later on Astronomy just to meet them. i do realize that Astronomy is a no-brainer to most of you guys anyway yet it's not for me in many games.

the effect slows my progression way the hell down, and if you can't stand longer wins you won't like this map. it's just interesting that it slows both me and yet also the CS-dependent AI down. the offshore CS's are typically harder also for an AI to militarily take over.

Mixed feelings so far. On the one hand, I like that the city states are not in the way of my own expansion. On the other, I'm not so crazy about the time it takes before you can really meet and interact with many of them.

I think the "plus" map scripts throw way too many of the CSes off the mainland. I think it would be better if 1/2 - 2/3 the CSes started on the islands. This would make it so that there is still a good amount of CS interaction in the early game, and it would also leave room to settle the islands.

Cant' stand continents and pangea plus. Never play them.

Small continents plus has it right.

i forgot to add that from what i've seen it seems to push AIs to broad front wars much easier and i also have huge long contested borders with no CS buffer zones. it sort of forced me to take care of some warring business and get hit with worldwide hate. going to be interesting finish tonight to see how it shakes out. also, the other continent got really hateful to each other over there too and the world is at war with 3 civs going down by Renaissance. no Shaka/Attila/Greece/Siam either. Assyria's in there but he got boxed in and is impotent.

I love the plus maps, but an option to have all, most, half, or none of the CSs on the main land masses would be great ( and would obsolete continents vanilla for the most part)

I never use the Plus maps, as others have said the CS placement is too remote. I like meeting lots of CS early on, it gives the world a more "lived-in" feel.
