Converted Civilization 2 WWII scenario

Hi, I really liked the civ2 version of this, so I downloaded it. But when I go into the city screen the game just exits.
Can you please help me:cry:

You need to turn of WW other then that this looks like fun and I will start playing it and give you some feedback:D

WW= World War
I never experienced problems while entering the city screen, never before heard of such a problem either :confused: .

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
Thank you for recreating the Scenario from Civ2 to Civ3

Thanks, I had a really fun time playin this. There are a few things that could be improved though tho.

1.) A lot of wonders (like Sun Tzu's war academy) have not been "dumped" or disabled.
2.) A lot of old units (like the man of war) can and were still being built
3.) There is no sound effects for the alpine troop (is it supposed to be like that?)

Anyway, it was still a lot of fun. Thanks

wow, first post in a very long time...
I'm currently working on the conversion of the rome-scenario from civ2 but you've got my attention.

1. I'll change that
2. Can change that as well
3. I haven't added any, if you've got some good sound effects feel free to sent them to me, I'll add them as well.

I'll post MiChello's WWII v 1.1 next weekend.

ok i am new to civ 3 please help i have put biq file in the scenerio file but did not get a map?

Is this right and also where does the other files go?

thanks i get the hang of it after a while

Michello I have the same error message as Holy King and I have placed both files in the folder as you suggested. is there a file missing in your ZIP?

I really want this scenario as it is my favourite of all time. I loved this on Civ 2

Great GREAT work! :goodjob:

It's been a REALLY long time since I played the Civ 2 scenario, but I do remember Paris getting conquered in the first turn.

Yes... Paris is the first turn. Used 14 Panzers+2Alpine troops (good to have them back!), lost 2 Panzers+1Alpine and got Paris!
My only fear is the sub-bug as Germany has subs all around...

One question though: is the war Germany-Allies permanent?

@soldierblue2
I'm sorry bur I have no idea what the problem might be...I tested the scenario after reinstalling civilization and there was nothing wrong...the biq should be in the same folder as the folder with the extra files, not in the extra files folder itself though

@Luthor_Saxburg
In order for the Axis to actualy attack the allies, I had to...

But I've got some good news, I've made two new versions of the scenario, maybe you can try one of them.

@MiChello
I agree with a permanent war Axis-Allies because otherwise it could turn into something else rather then a WWII Scenario.

I've played other WWII Scenarios where this didn't happen and USA ended up by attacking GB. :eek:
It can be a fun game, but not a realistic WWII scenario!

Michello
I am saying that there is not a Map in the folder that I downloaded. It would seem that your download doesnt have all the required files to play the game. Is there anyone who has a working copy can email me the game or tell me where to download it? As the one on this site doesn't work!

I'm sorry for the miscommunication, in dutch the word for folder is map, I tend to mix them up.

There are now two files you can download seperatly, unzip them into the scenario-folder and start the game, it will work.

I'll take a look at the scenario, I haven't seen it yet, but if I think it would make a good scenario for civ3 I probably will convert it. If anyone can tell me where to find the scenario I'll get on it as soon as possible...

I cannot find a map in either zip file.
Do I need one?
I haven't tried to play it yet.
There are so many scenarios that just do not work, I am very wary about installing another one.

@biggles - The map is embedded in the .biq file. If you unzip the file to {civ3 root
directory}\conquests\scenarios, it should work. Did for me.

@MiChello - First, thanks for doing this. It's fun, and it definitely plays differently
than the Civ2 version... :goodjob:

A couple of tweaks I made FWIW :

1. Increased length to 130 turns to make the length more like Civ2 one (End in
1950).

2. Got rid of war weariness for Democracy - (Went into disorder on turn 3 as
as Allies! Grrrr).

3. Gave many buildings "reduce corruption" and "reduce pollution", and set
pollution for all buildings to 0.

4. Set # of optimal cities very high (starting at 400 for Tiny map- 900 for Huge).
