It's medieval era and Zulu hasn't founded a religion. 0 influence at all except for mine.

If I make all 3 Zulu cities Protestant(my founded religion), will they
A) adopt Protestantism
B) found a religion
C) stay unwilling to spread or fight the religion

I really don't understand why they don't have a religion and how they will react to mine.

I'm assuming you're playing with 8 civs on this map.

If 5 religions have been founded then the Zulu cannot found a religion. You can spread to them and will get a moderate diplo bonus for sharing religions (though considering the fact this is Shaka we're talking about it probably won't help). You'll also get a tourism boost for it.

If at least one religion has been enhanced and there are enough pantheons to eventually found five religions (and the Zulu don't have a pantheon) then the Zulu cannot found a pantheon and therefore will never get a religion unless they perform the highly unlikely act of building the Hagia Sophia.

If none of the above, there is a chance that the Zulu will eventually found a religion. If the Zulu have a pantheon, a religion has been enhanced, and there are only 5 pantheons in the game then the Zulu 100% will found eventually.

If there aren't any more slots to find a religion, then the Zulu won't find a religion and will adopt protestanism. If they do obtain a religion, they will more likely ask you to not send prophets or missionaries. Sometimes ais don't complain when you send them your religion because they could make use of the religion as well. I had an ai take my religion and helped me win the world religion in the world Congress once.

Afaik. there's no code in the game actually making the AI weigh the pros of your religion against the pros of their own. I'm quite sure that if they found their own religion, they will dislike you for spreading your own into their lands (but only after they founded it), and this no matter how much better your religion is than theirs. However, as mentioned above, if they don't found their own religion, they will happily adopt your religion if you spread it to the majority of their cities, and that goes no matter how bad your religion is compared to, say, a third party religion.

Few thigns
1. If the number of pantheons is the same or more than the number of religions in the game, and a single religion has been enhanced no civ can found a pantheon from tht point onwards. So if there's religions to be found but Zulu haven't founded a Pantheon they have no shot to found a religion (although I'm curious if the rule has an exception if they get their hands on a prophet).

It does. If you get a Great Prophet, for instance through Piety finisher, Hagia Sophia or Liberty finisher, you can found a religion (and choose your pantheon) even if someone else has enhanced their religion, given there are still free religions.

This is only with a sudden great prophet from anywhere (except for faith accumulation) where you can get the pantheon and the religion in 1 turn.

Yeah, if a civ nearby doesn't have a religion, and you do, spreading your religion to them is almost always a good idea. There are decently significant diplo benefits to it, and if you take any belief that makes you benefit from your religion spreading, that's a nice perk too.

Never spread your religion to any civ who has their own religion, but almost always spread it to civs that don't have a religion. Whether you should spread to the civs that don't follow this rule, the in between cases, where a third civ is the subject of a religious war between you and a computer, should be dependent on how much faith you have, how much faith your opponent is probably generating and how early in the game it is.
