converting religions

Hi there, I recently played a game on noble where I did a tiny, 18 civs, and I was french. I had been the first to discover Hinduism. Anyhow, as the game progressed, all the civs begain to convert to Judaism. Turns out, all but about 3-4 civs were not Judaism. This really put me at a disadvantage because of trading, relations, ect.

why is it I couldn't convert to Judaism? does the civ with the holy city have to ask me to convert? If so, that SOB civ. really screwed me over. anyhow, I basically lost because I got conquered, would of helped to have friends

At least one of your cities has to be Jewish in order for you to convert to Judaism. So yeah, either the founder of Judaism has to convert you or it needs to spread naturally. Natural spread will only happen if you are close and have no other religions in the city in question.
