Converting the German version of SMAC to English?

I have a German copy of SMAC, and I would like to know if it is possible to convert everything from it to english?

Well, most of the text in the game are stored in txt files IIRC, so you could theoretically throw the entire thing on babelfish, hit translate, then copy it back to the the files. Not much you can do about graphical texts, though. Much of the game is pretty intuitive anyways.

Are the speech and movie files in German too?

This page has the text files needed to convert the German version to English. Haven't tried it myself, though.

Proletariat, yes the video and sound files are in German too

Thank you very much guys, but considering the video and sound files are in German too I'll have to buy an English copy of the game.
The only reason I have a German copy is because I traded some games with a friend. But at least I can play SMAC until the new copy gets here Thanks guys!

Vanilla SMAC is cheap enough that i'm not sure it'd be worth the heacache to try to convert it.
