I just realized that 5 cookies are trying to download onto my computor from this site.

:shakehead This stuff was from bad ad sites I read the privacy statement. It basically said we do whatever we want with you info ( now it is 7 cookies )

Set your browser to accept cookies from originating web site only. FireFox has the option. IE has it too, if updated.

check the offending cookie

note the website that set it (eg: adserver.com - the ad website, not this one)

then block that website from setting more.

In IE you do that in Tools>Internet Options>Privacy, to override cookie handling for individual websites click the Edit button and enter the name of the site you want to block.

Doing this dramatically reduced the number of tracking cookies being set for me, I've just got to do it again for Opera now!

Cookies aren't really harmful, it's the spyware that should more be of consern.

As already adviced you can block the cookies from those sites that send them.
