Cool and ugly looking ships

USS Salem. WWII built heavy cruisers took on the same basic lines of Iowa battleships. They were bigger, but weighed less, than many battleships. The is a Des Moines-class heavy cruisers were the first big gun ships to use case ammo in the main guns (8 inch) instead of a projectile and powder bags and could fire at 10 second intervals instead of the usual approx 30 seconds for other big guns.

I think it's the only heavy cruiser still afloat and open to the public.

The Fusos in particular were fantastic ships, I'd dare say the best before the Fast Battleships of late WWII.

The mast, or whatever it is is too high up front. But that's just me.

personally, I like the first two, and the second two are kinda' weird... but that's just me
 
How about Admiral Dewey's flagship "USS Olympia" from the Spanish American War?
