Coronavirus MP Challenge Part III

Stackable terrain and no population loss from battles or capture both make sense to me. Anything else?

Let's see if we can recruit a couple more players though. England, France, Spain, Austria, Prussia and Russia. Sweden can be AI controlled, or played by the Prussian player, since Prussia is somewhat weaker and disadvantaged geographically. I would take Spain if no one else fancies it.

Sounds great - Those @Cosmic2 options should enhance things without loss of scenario character. When things get going, I would like to control Russia, for the masochism!

We're talking about this scenario, right?

https://sleague.civfanatics.com/index.php?title=Bonaparte_II

It already has stackable terrain via fortresses on most squares, except mountains/desert/marsh/northern forest, where there isn't supposed to be stackability.

A couple lines in the Lua console will remove all the fortresses, but you will have to re-balance unit attack/defence to compensate. You would also need a (simple) lua event to have stack kills on the relevant terrain.

I agree that removing population loss from battle makes sense. You should probably also disable the destruction of the non-combatant improvement.

Right you are. If it has stackable terrain, then we should just leave it as is, I think. Just add the 'no population loss' feature. What is the non-combatant improvement?

I had downloaded the scenario from the general Civ2 data base, but I'll use the link you posted instead to make sure that we all have the same version. I see there is a MP version included that unfortunately not been converted to ToT. I suggest we do use the MP events file though, since it leaves out those events which are not appropriate for MP games.

Ok gents, let's get this show on the road! :bounce:

We now have 5 players (welcome Civ2Units!) and I'm still hoping to hear from Fairline that he will join us as well. Please download the scenario here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/bonaparte-v2-for-test-of-time.12470/ Unfortunately, the MP version has not been converted to ToT, so we will have to use the SP version. EXCEPTION: use the Events file from the MP version. It eliminates a number of events that are only suitable for single player games.

Curt, could you please make the following changes to the Rules Txt.? No population loss to cities from battles or capture and City Walls not destroyed when a city is captured. People will have to have the ToT Patch Project installed for this feature to work. (I'm not sure if it matters which version. Anyone?)

In order of strength, the available civs are: France, England, Russia, Austria, Prussia, Spain, and Sweden. Voltar and Curt have both called for Russia, but Voltar was first. Curt, would you mind choosing another civ? I've bid for Spain, but I'm flexible. France and England both need a human player. I suggest if we only have 5, then we let the AI handle Prussia and Sweden. If Fairline (or anyone else) joins then we could leave Sweden to the AI, or let someone have both. So who wants what?

I suggest one house rule: Ground units may only land from ships into a tile which they started the turn adjacent to. This would not apply to units landing in a friendly controlled port. This is to prevent an army landing in the face of an enemy fleet that is superior. It gives the superior fleet the opportunity to intercept the invasion force. For example, I saw one game where the French landed an army in England, despite the Royal Navy having the much larger fleet. By the time the Brits could move their ships, it was too late. Thoughts?

If anyone else wants to join, please let us know. We can accommodate 2 more players.

I would think Spain would be the AI, Prussia seems important.

Also that Graphics Modpack contains some changes beyond BMPs, do we use that?

Prussia and Sweden aren't adjacent in turn order, so they probably shouldn't be played by the same human player.

I'm willing to play France if no one else wants it. I don't have a preference, so I'll play whatever no one else wants.

I don't think version will matter for this, the feature has been around for a while.

We might want to prevent the sale of Civic Water Supply (aqueduct) and Reservoir (Sewer), so they're not immediately sold off. Perhaps Library and University as well.

I completely agree.

Excellent. Do we have a settled choice of civ for each player, and what civs are left for me to play?

I believe we have 6 currently? So Sweden shouldn't be picked yet.

If you could play Austria, we could get started, as it moves first. I have the players as follows:

Austria - Fairline
Russia - Voltar
France - Prof Garfield
Spain - Techumseh
Sweden - Curt Sibling or the AI
Britain - Civ2units
Prussia - Curt Sibling or the AI

Curt has become super busy with work and will pick up the game when things settle down. In the meantime, I guess we will have the AI run Sweden and Prussia.
