Has anyone tried to use Ferdinand Magellan to gain a third copy of a luxury resource to be able to make a corporation out of it? For example, I control 2 amber. Can I use Magellan to gain a third amber and make a corporation from one of my original two ambers?

As it happened, I just had a game where I had not used Magellan yet, so I made a quick test. The answer seems to be: No. Well, at least, when I used Magellan to acquire a second copy of Turtles, I could not build an industry on the one copy I had on the map. So I assume the same would go for corporations if you use him to earn a third copy.

You probably need to directly control the resources then, even though the ones you get from abilities are *direct*, but not on the map.

Well, strange thing is that resources you have access to through being suzerain of a CS do count towards the 2/3 needed to form an industry and corporation, if I'm not mistaken.

The resources from your cs are on the map though, the copy you get from magellan not. Maybe thats the deciding factor?

Do they? I mean it's so painfully easy to get Industries and Corporations running it's sometimes hard to tell, I do know I get the notification sometimes but I don't think you can build an Industry/Corporation if part of it comes from a CS.

You can build an Industry or a Corporation if one or more of the copies come from a city state. It even informs you straight away once you become Suzerain of the city state so it is obvious from where does the copy come. :)

I am not sure about Magelan, as it is not a copy that is on the map and thus not counted in the total copies of that resource, probably not. Only copies that go into the total can be used to make an Industry or a Corporation.
