Corrupted Install?

I got Civ 4-BTS for Christmas, I have Warlords and Civ4 vanilla installed already, I went into BTS and the color is messed up, there are random color particles all over and I can't do much without it locking up (locked up on menu after trying auto-patcher). These problems never occurred with Civ 4 Warlords, should I uninstall then reinstall? Maybe I accidently fingerprinted my CD a bit and should wash it? Did anyone else get this problem?

what patch version where Vanilla and Warlords before you installed BtS?
also this sounds like a graphics card problem - did you recently update your graphics driver?
Finger prints on the cd would have given you install errors but are unlikely to cause this trouble ;)

Vanilla is at the top patch, Warlords is at top (2.13 right?), my graphics driver has been not changed at all, even though its a piece of crap for this game (Nividia 5600) its been fine, never experianced problems with it... besides lag and such but thats normal.

did you try lowering the graphics settings can you actually go into the options screen? and vanilla and warlords where patched before installing BtS? I am asking this because I have seen reports on corrupted patch installs when BtS tried to patch those itself?

I fear uninstalling and reinstalling may be in order, here is a guide:
Uninstall and Reinstall Civ4 Warlords BtS :

Try to follow this order when doing stuff:
Use Control panel to uninstall Beyond the Sword, then Warlords, then Vanilla
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\beyond the sword" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\beyond the sword" manually
(note: application data is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files, also these directories in application data are sometimes removed by the uninstall routine)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8}"
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{3E4B349F-10B5-4586-9D99-489A90A8B228}"
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{32E4F0D2-C135-475E-A841-1D59A0D22989}" (note: InstallShield Installation Information is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files).
Install Vanilla, immediately patch it to 1.61 (download it fresh from here
Install Warlords, immediately patch it to 2.08 (download it fresh from here
Install Beyond the Sword, immediately patch to 3.13 (download it fresh from here.

Alright thanks, also I tried to manually patch BTS, didn't help and when I took a screenshot to show you guys it appeared normal in Paint and they were patched before, I'll do your instructions.

The corrupted patch theory didn't work :( I turned my graphics down to medium (what I used in Warlords), didn't work :( any other alternatives?

I'll start a game and check it out, the screenshot was a movie.

Here screens, the problem does not appear here, all looks normal in these... but in reality in a game its less distorted (compared to the opening movies and main menu) but still messed up (green, blue lines, a mess).

Scratch all of the above, I changed graphics to low and now it seems to work... problem over for now I guess.

Thanks, its a wee bit... slow in the stone age, lets just hope I can win before the Industrial age. :)

Thanks for all your help.

Sometimes its good to consider that like with any other 'add on' , your system now has to run carring a greater load per average epic.
An Expanded building lineup increases calculations , new concepts like spys or corps add greater amounts of calculations and on we go etc...

Sometimes resurfaced code diminishes this effect but mybe it had done all that it could and the bulk BtS added on outwayed that advanatges improved code might have played.

THe more civs you use the more you'll see the problem compounded. Still Id like to salute outstanding members in the Tech support feild like Ori and GBVN for their relentless drive helping others enjoy their game to the max.

True Jones, Ori, I'd buy you a drink for your help.
