Thanks for putting me in a horrible position with the abstaine my fellow council members, as if I abstain the vote is deadlocked. However, as much as it is a dastardly thing to do, I cannot make a clear decision, as I am incabable of making perfect polls every time something needs to be done. However my decision is my own, and so it has been made.
I am not sure why there is objection to this change. It would simply restrict placing in an opinion in the initial post of a poll thread. It would NOT restrict the leader from making an opinion in a new post following the first.
My reasoning is this. When (in RL) you go to vote on a proposed amendment to a law (I'm not sure about other states, but in Missouri popular referendum may be used in the legislative process), you are given the simple option of 'yes' or 'no.' What you do NOT see is a message from the ballot printer saying, "By the way, I think you should vote yes because..."
Rather than seeing the leader's opinion in the first post and influencing leaders, there should be a clear difference made between opinion and option.
I will close in stating: Article J of the Constituion states "Elected official must plan and act according to the will of the people." A person is already acting as a leader by posting prerequisite discussion and the actual poll. A person is NOT acting as a leader if they are attempting to influence that will in a biased way.
