Well, I'm really not sure why its happening, but we've had some insanely close games of late, and this one was no different - the top three places were separated by only 53 points, and, incidentally, by one turn!

Just edging his way into first-place was Obormot - going a couple of places better than his previous best XOTM result (a bronze in the GOTM) to secure gold with a 510 AD domination victory. Relative newcomer Smoker[RU] grabbed silver with a 500 AD conquest victory, a mere 34 points behind. In third place, leopalas grabbed another medal, with a 510 AD conquest entry.

Summary of Medal Winners:

Great stuff people!

Congratulations boys with your victories. And of course Megalou for the nice rocket and beating me to a first COTM award. :goodjob:

Congratulations Obormot in getting first place!:cooool:

Congratulations to everyone else also!

Something odd in the result-- Diophantus had the second lowest QSC score, but got to 1000BC, while in game results, he got blazed in 3550BC.

Hi,

In the past i already lost a medal by less than 50 points. On another occasion i lost an award by 1 turn. But this is new: to lose the award by 1 turn AND the gold by 53 points is just heart-breaking:lol: My next goal is to get to GPR#1 spot without ever getting a gold medal:lol: Anyway, congrats to Obormot ( he even played Predator) and Smoker, for their good games. Congrats to all other award winners and submitters specially to MiniMe who not only is one closer to the Hepthtatlon;) , but also reclaimed the #1 spot.

P.S. If i had finished in 500AD as well, would the award have been given ex aequo or the score ( Firaxis or Jason) would have been the tie-breaker?

LOL! I wish I could claim I was going for lowest scoring conquest, but I'll take any award I can get!

Congrats to the REAL winners! :goodjob:

You're right DBear, that is odd about Diophantus, did he go for lowest score on purpose? He must have abandoned his settler since there is no way someone else could get to your (why would anyone do that?:crazyeye: ) Or he could have wandered it for 450 years and then it could have been killed by barbs. Maybe he did QSC, and then redid the game to submit for last place.

Congratulations to Obormot, Smoker[RU], and Leopalas with 11000+ scores!:goodjob:

Also congrats to MiniMe for another step closer to the heptathalon!:king:

Hmm! Interesting. Maybe s/he uploaded the wrong file for the full game? We'll investigate further ...

Yes, Jason is the tie breaker for equal dates.

Congrats on your second award Headblend!

Thanks - I was surprised to carve out a win for this one. I seriously mucked up the game and gave up on it, then picked it up again to see want I could learn from it. I had left it in such a hole that I didn't think it was possible to win.

Congrats to the 70 players who played better than I did. Hope to get one of the awards from the other end of the scale soon....
