Finaly a new civilization! :eek: I have read something about this culture but don't know much. Very interesting choise, Karasu. How did you ended up choosing Timurids for GOTM?
 
@Dave, I fear that this game will be too easy for you... I'll be happy for you to suggest the predator "equalisers" for the Sid game :p (serious!)

@Caesar -it isn't really a "new" civilization, just the Ottomans in disguise...
Anyway, playing civ has this remarkable side effect of generating curiosity in the history of civilization; I thought I could use it now and then to give a little flavour...

The history of Central Asia is so fascinating, yet not widely studied (at least, not that I know of).
I managed to visit some of those places last year (the photo is actually mine! :D ), and it sort of surfaced from the back of my mind when the editor generated this arid pangaea.
 
I can't believe it. The first time I've thought about playing a C/GOTM and it's a Deity! I've always played Civ in the "sit back and relax" mode, using it to relax, not to sweat being outdone by the AI. In fact, I've just started delving into Monarch level- haven't even considered Deity. I'm gonna get so slaughtered.

Is there an award for fastest loser? Cuz I'm a shoe-in.

Oh well, here goes! :cry:
 
There's a whole set of lowest score wins and loss awards. If it wasn't for Civ4 and a little voice in my head saying "HOF games", I might have given this one a shot. Who knows, by Friday, I might decide not to be a wimp and give a go anyway.

Cool! I think I've seen a similar picture in one of my history books back in the high school. :) Must be a market place or something?
Anyway, I think I'll play this one while waiting for Civ 4. You lucky Americans already have it! :sad:

Don't get complacent - competition for the losers' awards will be fierce. I already have a red ambulance (lowest scoring loss) on deity, so if I have time to play this one, I'll be looking for the green ambulance (highest scoring loss).

Please excuse my asking this here, but I really am going to try and play along, and the above has been a problem for me in my first practice deity attempt last week. Is 100% taxes the generally accepted approach at deity level? When I tried this, I found the AI asking prices for tech to be astronomical. I tried to follow some threads on the topic but got tied up with issues of versions and patches. Some of those threads are quite old.

I'm a Civ II oldtimer but haven't played in years. Where did my camels go? Please order an especially large red ambulance with extra flashing lights. :lol:

As far as I know, you don't get anything else than shields from the automatically selected tile on growth. No commerce, no food.
