Eek! This may be a bad idea, but I'm using this as my first attempt at Monarch difficulty. I'm going to go SW twice, and settle there, moving the worker directly to the wheat to working there. The capital location sets me up with a bonus grassland, (I think I've seen it reffered to as BG?), wheat, and a fish once cultural expansion has taken place. After that, it's just a game of expansion to the north. I'll send the first settler up that way, and hope to find some fresh water, and maybe some luxuries if I'm lucky.

Hope my first venture into Monarch doesn't end too badly.

Question on volcanos. When they erupt, do they always hit everything around them? I remember playing a regular game and having a volcano erupt, but it only effected the volcano, and none of the worked land around it.

Regarding volcanos : They can hit the 8 tiles around them too. Normally they will pollute 1 or 2 tiles of them too. The pollution can be cleaned, but if you have a city on one of those tiles it will be destroyed.
