Did any Aztecs make it into Space? Or did you go a peaceful route and call for a UN vote? Or maybe somebody went cultural! Any late warfare ... anybody?

Predator Class, for diplo.

I entered the Industrial Age in 150 AD and started my Golden Age soon after by attacking an archer with a jaguar warrior. During my Golden Age, I could do 4 turn research, and I expanded my empire enough during that time to continue to manage 4 turn research after the Golden Age ended. Most of the fighting was done with knights because it took forever for anyone to research Military Tradition for me. I ended up with 58% of the land by the time the game was over.

The AI provided only Replaceable Parts and Flight (saving me only 2 turns on Flight) as required techs during the Industrial Age. I used the Theory of Evolution to research Electronics and Fission and completed the diplomatic victory in 760 AD.

At game end:

Great game chamnix! :wow:
Impressive Result. The AI was really a help this time... :)

Although research is the key to a quick diplo win, I'd love to read more about your diplomatic actions. But maybe those are rather self-evindent and boring to log for you.

Actually, I get too engrossed in the game and forget to log much of anything most of the time . Generally speaking...

I don't remember the details of any trades, but I know France was my best partner. Once I decided on them, I happily took their free cash on hand, but I didn't take any gpt from them and gifted them extra luxuries as I accumulated them. From everyone else, I would take whatever they had to help pay for rushing things even with 100% research.

I generally only fought one war at a time because my military was never that strong. I usually just picked the closest and weakest rivals to attack - all I cared about was gaining more land for specialist farms, and I wanted to make sure whoever I attacked would not be around to vote against me in the end.

I didn't start any phoney wars since I didn't want to slow the research pace. I only signed one or two military alliances (until the very end) when I wanted help eliminating a rival that had a city that was awkward for me to get to.

France turned out to be my UN rival, so of course I turned on my best friend at the end and got everyone to dogpile them .

Nice game Chamnix.

The problem I had with this map was that I could not manage 1 single trade and I was left in the dust tech wise. I went for the wheel but every single civ had it. I then went for Horseback Riding since everyone had Alphabet and soon Writing, basically. By the time I got it, everyone had Horseback Riding too.

In fact, I've never seen such a screwed up tech pace except on Sid Pangaea. Was it modded or something, or just due to the Conquistadors?

Check out the pre-game discussion thread - some civs started with several cities already in place (and either some extra techs or many available goody huts considering how early Spain started the Great Library). The first thing I did upon starting this game was check F11; then when I founded my first city, I looked at F8 to see how my population compared to Spain's - it doesn't really help much, but it gives you some idea of what you are in for.

760 AD diplo would've beat my 1315 AD Space by a long shot if you tried, :hatsoff:

I played nice kitten all the way through the top tech path in the middle ages and launched attacks with knights while almost entering the industrial age. That was around 450AD, so basically 30 turns later than you. It was too late to properly farm up in time and I lost a dozen turns to research done in 5-7 turns in the early IA, plus 3 turns entering the MA. From the time I got universities though, this is just about all I lost for myself.

The AI only saved me 6 techs (Eng-Inv-Gun, Metallurgy, Corporation and Rocketry) after the MA kicked in and 1 turn off 2 (Fission and Theology), even with me feeding it every lux and useful ressource I could spare to my Mayans and French. So my research partners didn't feel like researching much. I take it your Iros and Frenchs were more useful. At one point I tried feeding England and Celts in, but came to the conclusion that it would have been MUCH more profitable to just send a cav army to capture the Parisian Pyramids early on.

Domination victory in 1540 AD

Sadly, Spain captured two of my cities early in the game. At least with allying I could keep them away from declaring on me again.

When I captured the GLib from France they already had Infantry but all others were two techs away from RP, so I just pillaged their territory with Knight armies for a long time, cause I had to fight the Mayas at the same time (captured Incans and most of Celtic territory earlier)
When Mayans were down, France fell quickly afterwards cause I had three Cav armies by then.
A short rush through Iro and English territory and then I had enough land.
Victory was delayed by one turn cause my former allies, the Vikings ROPraped me then...

Nice games people.

Open Class
Domination in 580AD

First let me say that my original goal was for Conquest but that changed after I managed to capture the ToA.

Started up by building up a core of cities until I found iron while building a road NE for my first victim. In hind site, I think I should have started this war earlier but I wanted to keep my GA until later.

After taking out these guys I started woring my way clockwise, getting as many AI's to help as possible.

The GL was built by the Celts so I changed plans and headed over with my library card.

I closed the library early as not to ruin the effect of the ToA and got my GA going to clear the lower research path to MilTrad.

I could have kept going for the Conquest by why? There are too many better players than myself and I am sure someone would have beaten me to the medal so I settled for the higher score.

Very few medals but I'm trying to stay in the top 10. Always the bridesmaid as they say.
