(Assuming you HAVE a middle age :) ) ... The Celt's GS is a nice unit to keep parity with the AI during the AA; now that you've entered the Middle Ages, how are you keeping up? There's a definite risk with a Pangaea Deity game that the AI may run away in Tech, or a monster AI could form; anything like this happening in your game or are you keeping pace?

I hereby skip Spoiler #2, as I skipped the medieval age entirely. ;)

Predator, going for a military victory

I had entered the MA in 90BC at war with Rome and the Zulu. I had ma's tied to peace treaties with the French and the Ottomans. Both of them honored their deals and I renewed peace with them after they ended. I never saw any more Zulu near my territory as they were being handled roughly by Sumeria, France, and the Ottomans. Rome, who never had iron, was fairly easy pickings and by 90AD, they were history. After destroying them, I had three luxuries and about 40 GS. Research was a lone scientist on engineering which completed naturally in 580AD.

It took some time to build roads and get troops to Zulu territory. By the time they arrived, the Zulu only had 4 cities which I captured quickly, gaining me another luxury and they were gone by 320AD.

I had an RoP with the Iroquois and spent the next dozen turns positioning troops in their territory and settling more empty space. Soon after they acquired gunpowder, they made a demand which I rebuffed. At this point, I had almost 100 GS's. The RoP rape cost a lot of troops, but I managed to take 5 of their cities, including their horses and iron. I resigned peace with France, who had the GL and had just entered the IA along with the Sumerians. While my troops finished off the Iro, with help from Sumeria, I positioned my troops around Paris. In 590AD, the Iro were destroyed and I immediately captured Paris and two other towns. The Iro war also netted me the Pyramids and Leonardo's in Salamanca. The French never had iron or horses and apparently never hooked up saltpeter, so I only fought spearmen in this short war.

In 600AD, the GL got me to the IA, but without military tradition. I started research on it at max. and switched production to knights as I could no longer make GS's. The plan is to then mop up the French and the badly damaged Aztecs with my remaining forces and then go after the Ottomans with cavalry, hopefully reaching domination before tangling with the Sumerians who have rifles and have started Universal Suffrage.
