@ Joethreeblah. If you don't mind getting a few other games in the mix, then may I suggest you buy something called 'The Conquerors Collection'. It is a strategy pack containing Celtic Kings, Sid Meiers two Civil War games and SMAC. Try looking for it in the catalogue of any good video game or tactical game store. Otherwise, it is possible to get SMAC on either e-bay or Amazon. Good luck!!

@ Joethreeblah. just check Ebay. Everyday you see SMAC it's expansion pack SMAX or them bundled togther in the planetary pack or assorted with many other games in the laptop collection.
It's very easy to find SMAC and SMAX at Ebay.
I would love a sequel to SMAX. It really does put me off that air units are so overpowered (specially with the cloud city academy wonder/project). The thing is that when I try to start a new game the graphics kinda put me off. I know it's lame but it's true. My eyes have gotten used to graphics such as Rome Total War. It's kinda sad. Even Colonization's graphics are kind of crude now.
I really hope Firaxis makes millions of dollars of profit with Civ IV so they can start working on SMAC II. The problem is that Brian Reynolds was the soul of SMAC and played a key role (as well as in Civ II and Colonization) and now he's gone to make his own games. Without his magical touch it would be so hard for a sequel to stand comparison with what is almost probably the best and deepest strategy game ever made, with the allowance of Civ that is.

I not a programmer, but from what I understand they are realeasing most everything with the game but I could be way off. All I know is that they said you will be able to mod just about everything, which is way more then you could do with Civ3.Volstag said:

If you do get SMAC, Good luck getting it to run on any current machine. I couldn't get to be stable on my laptop for anything. DLed all the patches and updates I could find. It would still bomb for no reason switching between screens.
