Sometimes I think what others civ's should be in Civ?
But the there is the UU issus...
So Could South Africa be a civ on Civ?
Leader: Nelson Mandela

...

Coments.

others civ?

(Scotland, Canada, Israel; allready discust on others Threads)

I can see you're a fan of modern civs.
I personally don't like modern civs for the epic game (until they add some feature that lets certain civs appear at different times)

The ones you have are all modern and not a huge powerful nation like the other modern civs in the game.

There actually aren't that many "missing" civs that could be brought into Civ. Polynesia, Tibet, Khmer, Abyssinia/Ethiopia, the Hebrews (NOT modern Israel), Songhai or Mali, maybe the Cherokee or Sioux. Assyria could, but Sumeria, Hatti and Babylon have already taken every possible city name for Assyria. That's about it.

While they can't include every nation someone thinks should be a civ, they did include the possibility by giving us an editor.

I agree that there aren't many more options for Civs. The only unfortunate result is lack of representation on a few continents. Europe is cluttered with Civs, but Africa, Australia and South America have virtually none.

If any more Civs were to be added, I would opt for past cultures, preferably from the Pacific realm or other areas in the southern hemisphere.

Oh, but I also would like to see a Custom Civ option in the Create new random map area.

South America

Only see Brazil, Argentina and Boliviar (not Bolivia).

But modern Nations at lets there are some, right?

austria, the hebrews, polynesia, assyria(although they wouldnt have any city names), songhai or mali, ribet, ethiopia would all be nice. personally i dont think they should put a limit on the number of civs.

I'd root hard for the Hebrews and an official Austrian race.

I think that the Hebrews, Ethiopians and Khmer should reallly be in the game

You can still create new Civs in the editor. You just can't get a new leader face or design for a UU off the game. Other than that, you can control everything.

im gonna go against u all

i dont think the hebrew should be a civ,if anything they r known for not having any land, and now that they do,they are in constant state of war!

not to mention israel is not exactly huge, and without military aid from USA would not last 5 years

i say to qualify as a civilization for civ the game,a nation should have controlled decent amounts of land at one point, and contributed to the human race with some new ideas/inventions

there goes the khmer also(known for clubbing milions to death, right?)

and south africa

although it is pretty tough to find candidates for this role as most of the big civs r already in the game

ps.i rather have aboriginians than south africa

boomerangs are way cooler than apartheid ;)

Jawz..

I agree and disagree with you. I agree that the Hebrews should not be included as a civ because they really never controlled anything. (I am not talking about present day Isreal). However, the Hebrew people have contributed a lot to the human race, two things come to mind immediately 1) the 10 commandments. the moral framework found in almost every religion (note: I am implying that the Hebrews first devised these concepts) and 2) Christianity.

well the idea of monotheism came from a egyptian farao who suffered from brain damage due to inbreeding,no kidding

i think if someone has any kind of religious beliefs that they keep to themselves, its cool, only when they try to convert me i usually run away screaming :)

i think the big religions have caused way more suffering and misery and wars than good things, but thats just me

example:had the iraqi sunnis and shias not hated each other maybe they wouldve been able to produce a better leader than saddam,or put up a better defence

i dont wanna start a flamewar with some religous guy,but i think religions have made life harder for people, althought they prolly were meant to help people

more exaxmples:the holocaust, the crusades, the spanish inquisition, the rwanda slaughter the list goes on and on

so if anyone out there think religion is the best thing ever then great

just dont try to convert me if u dont wanna be stabbed in the
face ;)

i like to think for myself in any given situation instead of acting according to a manual, thousands of years old

peace

ps.of all the religions ive looked into, buddhism appealed the most to me,im no yuppy buddist, just saying it sounded the coolest

ps2.im sure the hebrews have invented many cool stuff,im not saying nothing good ever came out of the jewish people, einstein for example was jewish, sid meyer sounds like a jewish name!

but the jews never did have much land = i dont think they should be in civ4 as a civ

actually i dont think any more civs r needed really, there r plenty now

why does everyone refer to the ancient owners of the current lands of Palestine and Israel as the Hebrews? the nation was known as Israel in ancient times, as outlined in the Jewish and Christian liturgical texts of Genesis, Exodus, Joshua, Kings, and Judges.

although they never commanded an empire, they are one of the few cultures and civilizations to survive intact from the ancient era. They have always been considered a proud and unique culture. Their place would defeinitely been appreciated.

As for the UU and leader, my ideas are thus:

UU: Armoured Cavalry(Mech Infantry) 16/18/2 or 12/20/2
Leaders: Ariel Sharon(JK), David son of Jesse,or Golda Meir(she was just that damn good)

their traits would probably be Religious and Militaristic.
