Countdown to Brave New World Pack

I can't browse Steam due to the heavy traffic by the summer sale lagging the site out, but I did set a timer for the UK release according to the store page when it was working a few days ago: http://www.timeanddate.com/countdow...7746&fg2=0fa595&msg=Brave+New+World+Worldwide

This is the UK time. It will be staggered according to local time midnight it seems. Would've been nice if OP could've updated the first post in consideration for people elsewhere in the world with a few timers for Central Europe/Asia/Australia... etc.

But whatever, too late now... only 5 hours, 36 minutes and 40 seconds to go!

I slept 4 hours in the afternoon, and eager to play BNW all night.
(CivFanatics after all))

But when I can start it? 00:00 GTM? CET? CEST? LOCAL TIME?

How was it in America, you also have different time zones.

How do you know you already starting BNW and not G&K?
Did you get a new ikon on the desktop?
Thanks.

The lack of info on steam is most annoying.

steam will tell you the exact time remaining if you go to the store page of BNW and you preordered it.

At any rate it should be midnight U.K. time for every country of Europe.

If you click on BNW in the store, it'll tell you that you already own it and how many hours before it unlocks - rounded up to the next full hour (e.g. if it's 19.45, it'll say 5 hours until unlocking rather than 4 and a quarter hours).

Someone mentioned on these forums that the release is based on GMT (not sure if that is correct though).

EDIT: Crossposted with Killlbray!

Uh... I've just checked Steam and the store's site has changed since my last visit when I activated my key. The exact countdown was substituted with an approximation. Nevertheless, I expect the game to be unlocked on the 12th of July, which happens to be in 3 hours and 20 minutes. That's what the initial countdown indicated. Our cousins are also in the CET time zone so it should be the same hour for them.

It unlocks in almost 5h (20:00 here in Brazil!), unfortunately, I'll be studying. History.

For me, in the Eastern US, the countdown timer was set to go off at midnight. The download didn't start until about 15 minutes later. Nothing I did before then made it go any faster - launching, verifying game files, etc. Even before then, Steam's DLC info tab and store page both said I owned the expansion.

Once the download did start, it took about 25 minutes.

After the download finished I launched the game and it still gave me the Gods and Kings loading screens. When I went to the in-game DLC menu, Brave New World was present but unchecked. I tried checked it and left the menu, but when I returned it was still unchecked. Restarting the game didn't fix it.

What *did* fix this problem and allow me to finally play was killing and then restarting Steam. When I restarted it, it showed another very quick download - unlocking it I guess - and then I was able to play.

I agree - Steam isn't very good at giving you info about the status of your games. I hope it goes better for you folks in Europe (and anywhere else the game is available).

It's looking like 5 PM for me (Central America time). Unfortunately I have to leave at 6 and won't be back until 8:30 or so. I guess at least I won't go out of my mind if the download is taking a long time because of summer sale. And seeing as I don't need to work until 1 PM tomorrow and off today, I slept til noon so I can get a whole game in tonight.

^ I forgot about the summer sale... Maybe Pollacks won't be buying that much on Thursday night and won't clog up the server? I was hoping for >10MB/s

Its live about 3 hours from now

It says it will unlock at 01:00 for me. Its 22:00 now.
Three more hours...

Are you sure? It says 1 hr and a half on Steam for me.

Looks like it IS downloading!

Oh dear, I thought it was later, apparently the time is not exactly 72 hours after NA release.

I shouldn't sleep last night:(

I can't wait! Gonna play a good game even though it'll be midnight :D

Definitely gonna select a new Civ, though i'll leave the AI Civ's on random rather than choosing the new Civ's on purpose. That's cos i'll more than likely get a couple of the new Civ's at random (large map) and it'd be fun seeing how they interact with the Civ's already there.

Moderator Action: Merged with the countdown thread.
