both are probably simple fixes but i cant seem to get it done. playing civ3 conquests. first of all running windows 7 and cant work with it at all. my game doesnt fit the screen. has about 1-2 inch black frame on left and right. how do i make the game fit full screen?

and 2nd question. i have used the civ editor to make my own maps and custom rules before and had no problem going to the civ content to find them and play them. i just tried to make a map but when i go to civ content its not even listed. when i search it in the folders it shows it there but its got a lock icon on the file . just dont know what i did wrong or different than the maps i did before that worked.

i did recently download a patch for civ 3 and conquests. and i noticed that now when i load the game i get an option ive never seen before. the first option in the list is "play last world" and ive never had that come up before. so maybe thats part of the problem. any help is greatly appreciated. im lost!!

Play last world has no connection to the problems mentioned. It's just an option to start a new game in the map of the previous one. Regarding the maps, I don't know. May be you placed it in the wrong folder as there are separate conquests, PTW and vanilla scenario folders in addition to a special "conquests" folder for the 10 conquests. Regarding the fit screen you can change screen settings in the control panel and then start the game. If the game doesn't change screen settings as it should then this brute force solution may work.

I would suspect that the reason you do not see the map is that it is not in the proper folder. In Win7 you have to watch the use of admin. If you installed C3C as admin, it will use x86 folder.

If you run the editor and not give it admin, it wil not be able to save into the x96 scenario folder. It will go to a USER directory. Search for *.biq and see where it is located and move it, if needed.

The black border thing, could be an issue with the desktop settings. If you run somethnig like 1990x1440. Try using the keepres=1 in your ini.

i searched for biq and got a list. was able to move them to the scenario folder. then clicked properties on the editor changed to run as admin. next map i made went in the scenario folder. many thanks for the help everyone.

tried the desktop change. went to full screen but i can see less of the map in full screen than i could with the black borders. lol but anyway. thanks again for the helpful advice i appreciate it greatly.

What is the desktop setting? C3C provides support for some settings. KeepRes can be used with Video.

Video Mode=1792
Can be 1024, 1152, 1280, 1600, 1792. Changes the game's resolution to the value specified (instead of the default 1024x768).

I have used all of them at one time or another. I run Win7 on a 24" and it is set to 1920x1028. I forget why I changed to this, but I run a lot of old games. Currently I am not using Video Mode. I have no issues.

ill have to check the desktop settings and see. not really a big deal. just curious how to work around with it. but ill check.

everything seems to be ok . except now when i play the game it has a lag to it. the units have a jerking lag to them when they move. kind of like when the antivirus is running everything gets a little delayed in animation. but it does it all the time.

strange how u can have a game running and working fine reinstall everything the same and have a totally different outcome. lol im jinxed.
