I couldn't find anything on this in my quick check but I am playing Grigori right now for first time since like the first iteration of FfH2 and am a bit perplexed.

One, I have Inquisition on my Luonottar yet cannot use it. Obviously as a religion-less civ I don't have a chosen religion so how do I remove religions from my towns? The option is not there.

Also, one of my medics has Unyielding Order. Now, this is a phenomenal spell when waging war yet I cannot figure out for the life of me how I got the ability. None of my other medics have it and the unit is still lvl 3 and un-mutated. I know it is a law spell for the divine, but have no idea how he managed to pick it up if it wasn't a default promo.

I don't know why you can't use Inquisition, but the other issue is one of the more overpowered bugs in the game. Grigori medics can get a 'personal' religion like any other unit. The thing is, Heal is a divine spell, so they have access to all religious spells if they are created with that religion. So actually, you are best off encouraging every religion in every city. Since medics don't have a national limit, you are essentially getting unlimited high priests.

Ah interesting. Thanks

Hmm, I must be missing something. I do have several cities with religion (I even have the holy cities to Empyrean and Order thanks to some early disciples I found in dungeons) but now when i build medics there I am not getting another with Unyielding Order. is it a percentage chance, like with mutated unit building?

Maybe I am being exceptionally dense today but I am unsure I fully understand the phrase "if they are created with that religion". Do you mean upgrading a disciple of said religion to medic? Or just building it int he city with that religion?

You have to have a state religion to cast Inquisition (or was it the owner of the city you want to cast in must have a state religion?)

I think it's something like the owner of the city must have the same state religion as you. You can't use inquisition on someone who worships Ashen Veil if you are Runes.

Whenever you build a unit in a city with religions there is a percent chance they will follow one of those religions, if you mouse over the unit the religion will be in the information about the unit...

Yes I know, but the Grigori Luonattor comes with it and Grigori cannot have a state religion. That would make it pretty useless if the same pre-req was required as region based civs. And if No State religion is their selection on the religion menu, then I dont see why they couldnt remove all religions form towns they own.

It does make sense for them to have it since you can inquisition your own cities to get rid of other religions so you dont need to use Purge Of the Unfaithful. I was just curious why I couldnt.

Nah, the Illians can use it just fine to remove troublesome religions.

I wrote about this Grigori medic exploit some time ago.

I found that getting the Eyes and Ears Network essentially brought all the religions to my civ. You will get the disciples, etc. from each of the religions and can spread it to one of your cities. The best idea is to then spread each one to a different city. Then, start mass-producing medics. When you get one without a religious affiliation, simply delete it and keep only those with the High Priest superpowers for their religion.

I did a test of 50 medics I built and found about 1 in 5 got some sort of religious affiliation. Like you, I preferred getting the Order's Crown of Brilliance which helped me a lot against some mega-stacks that were being sent against me by the AI.

As an added bonus the medics get weapons promotions making them no slouch in battle either.

Yeah, the chance is 20% or so.

I think i may have discovered the problem. Not sure if this mattered but that Luonattor was upgraded from a hunter/ranger. Maybe its non-divine background prohibited it from using the divine spell. I noticed that while my unit had Inquisition, it had no divine promotion on it. Maybe there is a bug in there. Either being able to upgrade a non divine unit to a Luo or the lack of a divine promo once he gets there.

Doesn't matter now. The game is over. When I reset my GP counter, I was given 12 engineers in 2 turns. Needless to say I just switched priorities and went Tower of Mastery, winning in 4 more turns.
