I think the cost of courthouse should rise? It is the cheapest courthouse that I have seen:lol:

I also think the martime city-state is a little too powerful, especially when you are playing small maps.
Culture city-state is extremly imbalance, you don't need to monument at all, and the city border is just expanding very fast!

What is the size of the city? Courthouse costs per population.

City-States, particularly cultural CSs and to a smaller extent maritime, are powerful for tall Civs since the bonuses are constant per CS ally, divided between your cities. But if you only have a couple cities, generating the gold to keep CS allies is not easy.

The cultural CS is providing too much culture during ancient/classical era. Buy one of the become the best way to expand, compared to building a monument. (Whcih you need a lot of production, very precious during ancient/classical)

As for gold, selling (extra) luxury resource is a very convenient way to get the gold you need. While you are allied with a CS, it will provide its luxury resource for you, so more luxury resources can be sold and you can get even more gold:crazyeye:

First of all, I see you are playing on an outdated version of VEM. Try updating to 108.6, its a good version and border expansion costs are raised. Secondly, you have a misconception about CS resources. You cannot sell resources a CS gives you, you can only sell resources that you yourself possess. Sometimes a CS can give you a resource that you already have, letting you sell the extra resource, but you're selling your resource and not the city states.

But if the CS gives you 1 of luxury B, then you can sell the only luxury C you had, if you don't need the extra :c5happy:
.

Hi, i've updated to the latest vanilla enhanced mod and am also running the economy mod. When i conquer a city there is no option to build courthouses in my build menu when i go into the city after i annex it. Any ideas?

If it's the "economy mod" that I'm thinking of (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=385224, note the first couple lines;)), it's looong out of date and will continue to cause bugs if you keep using it.

As Seek mentioned, the "Economy Mod" discontinued development half a year ago and is not compatible with the current version of Civ.

The Courthouse is somewhat harder to build in the current version of VEM because puppet cities have -25% :c5production:.

THnaks very much for the info. shame, I liked the balance the economy mod gave. Anyone know of any other mods similar to "economy" (it slowed down research and sped up build times).
