Coveting of land getting out of hand?

Some civs just want to take you over and the only way to prevent war is to have a considerably stronger military than them.

Your lands! Give them to me. For I covet them!

I had no problems until now with this... but did not had any agressive neightbour... For agressive civilizations meeting a new civ is meeting a new enemy for conquest, i don't see a problem with it, getting every civ to behave the same way (being friendly or neutral until have problems with you) for me would be the problem.

And it is even logical, having only you and him in the continent, if he is a warmonger it is a very good chance to have all the continent for him without the worry of being backstabed while doing it... it is what i would do if i begin a game willing to conquest the world...

I don't mind the Ai playing as a human either however thats not why I bought the game.

If they did that firaxis is sending the wrong message to the fans and gamers if they say they improved diplomacy and add a lot of positif modifers.

True in every Civ ever made. Alex has always been a big pain in the ass.

A guy who conquered half the known world plus a few bits people didn't realize were even there before he was 33 should be a pain in the ass

Next game I am purposely selecting all the aggressive civs as opponents and building my first city way to the north or south in snow and ice and see if they all still covet and become instahostile.
