Crash After Intro Movie

I just wanna play my game >.<

Im working on a Windows Vista computer and when I try and run it on 10 or 11x it wont even start the intro movie-it'll flash and then shut the game down. On 9x it'll play the movie and then shut down.
What can I do to make it able to play the game?
I took my computer to the tech service on campus and they updated everything, so I know that's all set-I'm not tech savvy at all.

Have you checked if your system meets the minimum specs? I'd suggest posting specs here, or there is an online "will it run" type site that checks your system automatically -- but I don't have the link handy. Maybe someone will reply with it.

Go into /my documents/my games/Sid Meier's Civilization 5, and find the file called "UserSettings". There is a line in that file that says "SkipIntroVideo = 0". Change the 0 to a 1, save the document. Then try to boot the game up. It'll have a black screen for a while, and then the menu should come up. Hope this helps (I had the exact same problem).
