[R&F] Crash citing video driver problem

Since the spring patch I've twice encountered a crash in games that I was well into, Information Age and Medieval Age respectively on normal speed. In both cases, the entire game crashed to Windows, though briefly an icon indicated it was still running. At that moment, a script came up telling me that CIV IV encountered a problem with my Video settings and encouraged me to update my settings.

In both cases, I had been playing the game for an extended time without any problem and with apparently good performance by my screen and graphics. I have installed the most recent driver available for my screen from NVidia after the first crash but a day before the second one. No additional driver update is available. There is a minor physical problem with my screen that led me to disable touchscreen. It doesn't affect anything else. I have had touchscreen disabled since December and played the game many time since then without any problem.

I'm not sure whether this is specific to my PC or is an issue other have encountered. Has anyone else encountered this crash?

I took better notes this time.
During an update between turns, the program crashes to the Desktop. I thought I noticed a brief chime, but that could just be a glitch in the audio at the time of the crash. A small window pops up with "Sid Meier's Civilization VI (DXII)" across the top. The script in the box reads: "Display device has failed. Please ensure your display drivers are up to date. Exiting." It allows me to click to close the box. While the box is on the screen, the Civ VI icon continues to be displayed on my bottom of screen toolbar, but this disappears once I close the box.

As noted previously, I have been updating my device drivers, especially for video frequently. I was a couple of hours into a play session. I don't remember what turn it was, but it was past 200 AD at standard speed. Previously, this has consistently happened well into games, sometimes a bit earlier and sometimes much later. It does seem to occur during the turn updates. I have wondered whether certain cut scenes are triggering this error. It may well be my problem (perhaps something wrong with my install of the spring patch?) rather than a general issue with Civ VI.

I played Vanilla Civ VI on and off since it was launched almost two year ago. I played R&F frequently for about the first month after it came out. I never encountered this specific issue. (I did have some game freezes a long time ago, but that was due to driver issues that were affecting Civ V and various non-Civ games as well and have long since been corrected.) I began playing Civ VI frequently again after the spring patch. But I stopped almost two weeks ago when I posted this problem. It's now hit me in 3 consecutive games and I have no reason to think it will just go away.

Has anyone else seen this error message come up? Does anyone know what's supposed to trigger it? Any suggestions on what I should do?

I have had this problem.
However each time I check NVidia after a crash it turns out there is a recent update(updates once a month on average, latest June 26).
So I "clean install" the update.
The clean install was recommended by Civ VI support from shortly after release.
If you still have trouble I suggest checking Steam support or the 2K company support.
