crash on save load

when i load a save the game crashes the next turn if i load it enough sometimes doesnt happen and i can play for long term. but most the time it crashes turn after load hit enter wait a bit crash to desktop no error message. im using windows 7 64 bit love the game but if i cant save seems cant get anywhere.

Is the directory where you put the mod in called exactly "Caveman2Cosmos" ?

Like:

C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Caveman2Cosmos

Or did you rename that directory?
 
I may want to look into this save this weekend. Upload it. I doubt the name difference would mean much to that game except that it's going to be a royal pain to debug for that reason. But I'll take a look anyhow.

IF you're working with the latest SVN version that is. Ensure that first please.

It needs to be capitalized. Needs to match what is in the Caveman2Cosmos.ini:

From the .ini file:
; Name of Mod
Name = Caveman2Cosmos

Not on windows it doesn't. Capitalisation is meaningless in folder and file names. Unless they changed that in Win 8 or 10.
 
i have the same problem actually. In multi, we have bypassed it by loading earlier autosave, but sometimes game is still crashing
 
With a multi-player game I'd probably need a mini-dump to help resolve that. But again... you must first update (both systems) to the current svn for this to be useful. Minidumps are generated in the BeyondtheSword main folder when you crash. If you're running with the current assets I may be able to take a look at that minidump and see what went wrong.
 
cant find multiplayer last crash dump. But now i have crashed again, now in single. I can send new dumpfile if required

Saves are not always important but can usually help a modder to understand the problem. If the problem is not reproducible a save file is usually worth little.
If you want to be an active tester, you could change autosaves to be every turn in "My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CivilizationIV.ini"

Changing this line:
"AutoSaveInterval = 3 (→ 1)"

The closer the save is to a problem the bigger the chance for a problem to be reproducible; as one different player choice can change the random number seed or game situation away from what caused the problem in the first place.
 
You sure that file sharing site is safe? I got a virus once from someone using such a share site. Would prefer it if you'd just 7zip the file and drop it here with the 'go advanced' button.

hmm... this gives some clues but it would be a lot more helpful to get a save.

However... this looks like it may be the same bug SO suffered a crash from. I'll be looking at his save soon as well.
 
This is not the same bug that SO suffered but the mini isn't telling me enough. I would need your actual savegame to make any progress on it. It was a plot attack issue that much is clear.
 
changing the name to capital seemed to fix my problem sorry been so long since i wrote been busy with game
 
Hello everyone!
We're playing hotseat latest C2C version on a smartmap and for some reason, autosave files don't load, while normal save files load no problem. Any tips on how to fix it? It's very annoying to save every turn and easily forgotten. Earlier versions' autosaves loaded fine for us...
Any help will be much appreciated.
Game mod folder is capitalized and exactly what it was written upper.
