Crash upon map load

I am currently experiencing a dilemma- a crash in Civ (task manager says "not responding" for civ5) since yesterday.
It occurs right after the map loads after using game setup and the dawn of man background fades into the map background I'll be playing (hopefully).
It is completely shutting down my ability to play civ, regardless of what I've done (reload civ, delete/reinstall civ)
Help?

Has it worked previously? Has anything changed in your computer? New software or hardware? There was a recent patch, and updating one's video card graphics drivers may be needed.

Posting your DirectX Diag would also help.

TBH, the game was working fine after the patch... no problems til yesterday... no updates I am aware of to the computer this is on... just... strange and unexplained

Separate issue: Anyone ever have an issue where after about 15+ times of reloading the map through interface, the trees go invisible-ish? This problem has plagued me since day 1 of Civ5

Could I please see your dxdiag? And when you say 15+ times of reloading through interface, you mean the "restart" option?

I will attempt to gather the dxdiag for the crashes... kinda a noob on troubleshooting though
As for the invisible trees, since day 1, if I start enough maps over, like exit to main menu, start now, or through setup... after about 15 times of starting up a map, all the trees would go invisible... this has been a problem since sept 2010... I'll take a screenshot when the other issue is resolved... The ghost trees occurs on both my computers, btw...

Since I've also asked it in the other thread: Can you load some of your old saves?
But I guess the hint which Mr. Shirk gave in the other thread might be more promising, because the crash is actually in the g ame: What's your setup for the fog of war, and did you try to turn down the graphical settings?

I can do anything if it means progress on this issue...

I've spoken with Dennis on/off the forums, and fog of war has been tested on every setting... no difference detected from that, installing latest drivers, reinstalling the game, checking the integrity of the game (I also get two missing files that always reinstall as have some others on the forums), and deleting the file next to dx11/9 files that worked for another forum poster

As for saves, I'm happy to load them, but I dunno what good they'll do since I've been unable to play since this issue began and all saves are therefore from a bygone era of playability.
One moment or two while I load the saves up to the forum...

having issues uploading to forum... timeout/server issue

SIGH!

This may sound like a reach, but could internet issues be getting in the way when you check your files via steam?

I have decent internet connectivity... no problems with other sites... seems the server here is a bit.... taxed at times
Moving on... managed to upload a file... its from the same day as the OP... Before my life was ruined and I was forced to go outside/to go to work/and to interact with other people again...
Also, of note, this save is from before the game started to hang every time I pressed "join the game" following the dawn of man intro
