Crashes, laoding failures, Steam cache verification & weird graphics

I'm playing Civ 5 on an Dell XPS 17 laptop. It is well beyond requirements needed.

My current game is the Earth map at huge.

The game is constantly crashing at the end of each turn. Every so often it needs to be verified through steam. When verification of the cache finishes it says 1 file failed to load and it reinstals the file. There is also seems to be graphics problems sometimes where a unit or terrain improvement stays on the screen no matter where I scroll.

I've noticed also that when the game scrolls quickly around the map many of the hexes stay grey for a few seconds.

Same exact problem here. I've tried every graphic setting, verifying cash, and making registry changes. I think it's related to the file itself because the same issues happen on two different PCs.
