Crashes When Loading Saved Game

Just picked up BTS a few weeks ago and have been enjoying it immensely. I hadn't had any real issues with it, but far into a game the other night it crashed to the desktop with a "BTS has stopped working" error. When I tried to load my most recent saved game, and then many of the ones before it, it would get to the point of almost starting the game and then crash in the same manner. I finally found a saved game that worked, and have narrowed it down to the crash happening on any game I save on turn 219 or later. I've tried to change what I do on turn 218 to no avail, so I think it must have something to do with what the AI is doing on that turn, but I have no idea what it could be or if there is any way I can fix it. I tried looking at the log files myself but couldn't really make heads or tails of them. If anyone can shed some light on what the issue may be I'd be forever grateful!

I am using the BAT mod with this game, not sure if that could be part of the issue. To make it crash, I load the attached saved game, go to the next turn, save the game and then try to load the game I just saved. Any game saved from turn 219 on seems to cause the game to crash when loaded.

Ok, with the tip from Ori that this was probably related to the BAT mod, I was able to solve the issue. I simply renamed the Assets folder in the Bat mod directory so the art files aren't loaded (as mentioned in another thread) and now all of my saved games are working properly! :D

My next order of business (after finishing up this game, of course) will be to uninstall BAT. I didn't know it could cause potential crashes like this. I'd really like to stick with BUG at least, as I've gotten used to the extra info it provides. Is that known to cause any type of crashes or errors?

Sorry to hear about the recent troubles with BAT 1.2. Unfortunately, the art mods it merges, including Varietas Delectat, add a huge number of new unit models and textures, and I'm afraid it's grown so big as to be pretty much untestable to 100% (though I have an idea there).

As BUG doesn't add any unit/building/civ art, it doesn't experience these problems. For your current game, you may be able to copy the BUG Assets folder into that BAT Mod folder in the interim so you can at least use BUG to finish that game. This is the reverse principle you used to remove BAT's assets. You may give it a go as if it doesn't work you can just remove the folder and continue on. I think it should work though.
