When I exit diplomacy after entering via the f4-foreign advisor screen I crash to desktop. Each and every time. Are there any known issues linking to this?

Don't know - need more info.

i.e.

What version of Civ3 are you playing with?
Can you provide a save?
What are you doing before that crash?
Can you reproduce it after rebooting the computer?

BTW, shift-d also works for diplomacy.

Only if you have a non-worker selected. If you have a worker, you'll try and automate pollution.

This remains my biggest pet-peeve about Conquests, the completely useless (and redundant) change to the UI.

That's just in C3C. You can press CTRL-shift-d instead.

Here is a recent save game:
Ghandi

As far as I know this occurs with all campaigns despite rebooting no matter what I am doing in game. It happens whenever I use the foreign advisor screen for diplomacy.

I am running PTW w/o any additional patches. I've been told that my version number displays in the bottom corner of the main screen . . . but I can't see it anywhere for the life of me.

The menu brought up by Ctrl+Shift+D or clicking on the small "D" in the lower right control panel does not lead to crash.

Adjust your monitor. There's probably a button (or dials on older ones) that you can adjust the picture size (make it smaller). The text is on the bottom-left IIRC. It'll say something like 1.00f.
