Here`s a small mod I made which isn`t ready for the Mods forum yet. (So Horsie, please don`t move this thread yet! :) )

I intended to maximize fun and the ability to use many different playing styles using 1.21. I did not want to add units or make deep changes in the way civ works, just finetune the existing modfile. All I did was adjust things in the editor to get the AI to behave smarter. I wanted to discourage the AI from ridiculous landgrabbing, from tech whoreing and from ignoring the ancient age.

Please, everyone, try it out and tell me what you think!

Just to let you know that someone out here appreciates your work Killer. I just d/loaded your zip file and I aim to try out the mod this coming weekend.

Even though you're at least 3 notches up from me in skill, I believe we have the same likes/dislikes about the game, so I will give this a go. Shouldn't be too long, the AI just opened a large can of whoop-ass on me in my current game....:(

Hehe, i don`t think I`m any notches up on you. But thanx for trying, I hope it works for you. just remember to turn animate battles off!

I made some more changes, but none of them really important, just minor stuff like bombardment for archers, more punch for battleships and nuke subs. I`ll upload tomorrow to the original post.
 
some further changes and the new version:

Ancient tech except Monarchy and Republic + ~1/3 cost.
Max research time 50 turns.
Hills can be irrigated
Tundra gives no food
Resources give more bonus (now it`s worth fighting for them even if they aren`y strategic)
AI-AI trade is 100% on Regent, 110% on Monarch and so on.
Bombard changed accordingly.
2 new cultural levels, 1 at 5:2, one at 3:2 so rate can be judged better.

- more Uumpfff for battleships (bombard now 1,5 times that of cruisers,
- age bonus (1 to 4 HP) for advanced units,
- better attack for nuke subs and subs,
- changed HP to conscript=4, regular=6, veteran=8, elite=11
- changed bombardment accorgingly,
- added bombardment for all bow-equipped units and all fast units with guns plus tank and Modern armour,
- added free units / town for Republic since now often Monarchy is preferable over Republic because of large Military.

Tundra gives now nothing (not even commerce!)

Desert gives 1 prod when mined nothing else.

Corruption is 75% for all levels (I`m fed up with size 8 cities 10 tiles from capital producing 1 shield in GA!)
