Warlord
Hi guys. Yeah I'm new to the forums, but I've been lurking for quite awhile now. I've read a lot of what all the people on here have said and it has all been valuable. I play PTW on emperor level, going for specific standard victory conditions i.e. I don't consider a diplomatic victory a victory on my part if I had planned on going for conquest. While that's all good and fun, I really liked how some of players play 5CC, 1CC and other variants. So I decided to try my first 5CC as the Germans, emperor/standard/pangaea/random civs, with the goal of conquest.
Quick summary of highlights is that I got GL through a pyramids prebuild because LIT research came in time for the switch. No early conflicts nor war declarations, but I did sign military alliances with my buffer nations (France and England) to protect me whenever I did get delcared on. Lux and resource situation is great I think, a near monopoly on ivory and dyes, and one source of iron, horses and salt. AI teching has been a bit unexpected. The vikings were (until I caught up) the tech leaders, and researched the bottom tree of the MA, up to MT. And yes, they have profitted on all the other AIs. I finally did get my first war going (I'm a warmongerer by heart
so it felt good to finally go out and fight). Spain was chosen due to proximity, good terrian for knights to travel on, and their lack of iron. I think that war lasted about 8-10 turns, with a few of their scatter cities in the far east. BTW, add in Leo's and Sistines. I planned on using Leo's to trigger my GA since everyone was making Sun Tzu's and use my GA to pump out more knights and get Sistine's online for what I hope to be all the happiness I'll ever need. Tech situation is I'm at tech parity with the leader, researching music theory to get Bach's but that's probably overkill.
That's where my game is at right now. Basically what I'm looking for right now is criticism and suggestions. I'm a bit confused on my next target. Since this is the first time I played a game where the only one AI tech leader chose the bottom tree techs for research, getting MT, and getting cavalry, I'm somewhat confused on who to attack next. France because of proximity and to cut them down before they get too big, but they have cavalry already and losses could be high against their Muskets. Vikings just to slow down the tech pace and their lack of resources (no horses). Romans will be tough due to them being the lone civ on the lone island (how is it that pangea almost always if not all the time have one civ on a small lone landmass?) and me having no harbor town atm.
Any word MMing, builds, what should have been done instead, will be helpful. I like criticism
I feel though that I should have fought earlier using archers and horsemen. Whatever... if someone can tell me how I can post my save of where I stand right now, I can do so (it says I uploaded the file, but my preview doesn't show it anywhere
)
EDIT Never mind, the uploads automatically gets posted, hehehe...
