CTD frequency

I installed 5.5.2 ver. and played large map (Continent plus), standard pace; big work that version, I had played one of the funniest and best game ever but since turn 320 I begun to experience a lot of crash; impossible to carry on. I'll reinstall 4.29.3 (april 2021) ver.

did you go through all modmods and ensure they were using the version correct for the VP version?

I can't play domination games on standard/huge using communitu_79a with 30+ cities past renaissance due to crashes. They usually begin in the industrial era when I open up the tech tree and later progress to crashing when loading saves (from in-game, not the main menu) and even during turns. They all seem like soft CTDs, but they are so frequent that they make the games unplayable. This sucks because I enjoy playing warmonger games all the way into the information era. I have a few up-to-date modmods that don't have any glaring issues (4UC, More Wonders, etc.), but I plan to test for crashes without them. I wonder if certain map scripts cause crashing.

Yeah, I have the same problem, I start to think that our PCs become too good for the game. We max out graphics with high FPS in a better resolution (2k or 4k) (use more memory I think) than before. And I feel that if we have more RAM (like 16 gb versus 4 gb), windows will allow more of it to be used by the game... So the game starts to use memory faster than with older PCs and we got soft CTD sooner...

I have a good rig and play on 1080p with near minimum graphical settings, so graphics consuming too much RAM isn't the issue on my end. I'm also not using any texture modmods like RED. I think it's been mentioned before, but I never see RAM usage exceed even 2 gigs in task manager.

Same, I have never seen Ram usage exced even 1,5 gigs, but I don't know if we can trust task manager.
If its not a RAM problem, there is maybe a big problem of stability with the mod on some hardware...

Thanks for your response; I don't know what's a modmod, could you please explain (sorry for my ignorance)?
However I can see VP 6-7 (june 2021) beta is available now and I'm trying that, without any other mod.

A modmod is something that is designed specifically for something that is already a mod, like VP. These type of mods aren't meant for vanilla Civ 5, just the specific mod they are attempting to alter.

Disabling yield icons has eliminated crashing when moving around the map, between turns, and opening the tech tree in my huge/standard warmonger game with 50 cities and 185 units at turn 280 that was previously unplayable due to extremely frequent soft CTDs. This leads me to believe the issue is ram-related. It was around turn 100 that partially disappearing yield icons (a sign of not enough ram) coincided with CTDs when opening the tech tree.

Task manager is likely not trustworthy, given that it's wrong on numerous other things too like GPU usage.

I have no idea why but when I play with the latest betas from April onwards I always have hard CTD after 110-130 turns (king, standard, huge map communitas), reloading a save is no use.
I tried with the same list of mods enabled but with last official version (December 2020) and managed to complete a game of 350+ turns.
