Hi all,

I am enjoying Civ 3 however my biggest frustration is i can never seem to stop losing cities to cultural conversion>?

I seem to remember that i read somewhere that theres a toggle to allow/or not cultural conversion......does that stop the influence of culture>? if so where can i find it....

If not is there anything i can do to nullify this annoying tactic..

Thanks all
:)

I don't know if it's possible to only eliminate cultural conversion flips, but I wouldn't want to. Make sure you build temples, libraries, cathedrals, wonders and stuff like that. Make sure you don't have one lonely city near high culture opponent cities. Have some garrison in threatened cities helps too. If you do all this responsibly, the culture flips may come in handy, eg. cities will flip to YOUR side.

edit: here's some info on it:

instead of conversation, read conversion....

You can turn cultural conversions off when you start a new game. It's one of the options you can check off along with the victory conditions on the screen where you select the civ you want to play. Even if you do, though, your cultural achievements would still determine where your borders end up.

But I concur with Mr. Unforgiven. Why would you want to?

I agree with the other posters. Generally, you should be the one benefiting from cultural conversions. Especially with the AI's tendency to expand wrecklessly. The AI likes to build worthless cities on the edges of my territories, in places like tundra and desert where I didn't want a city. Cultural conversions tend to mop up these annoying cities.

Make sure your global culture level is higher than your opponents and you shouldn't have a problem.

Plus if you make sure your cities are culturally up to speed then your borders will expand taking up terratory that the AI may otherwise sneak a city into.
