Cumulative Football Quiz #6

Liverpool is close? It can't be Everton. Maybe Nottingham Forest, but I don't think so. But I'll give it a shot. Nottingham Forest?

Nice! But I'll leave the floor open, so anyone can take the question.

If you hadn't say that it can be Everton, I hadn't guessed it.

Edit: Wow! Post number 1,111!

I'll hop in to revive this thread. Not coincidentally my 10.000th post :) . I thought it would be nice to get it here.

My favourite football club in the Netherlands has once reached the UEFA cup final, after beating Juventus (twice) in the semis. In the double final, the away match was drawn, but the home match was lost. However, the honour was saved by scoring one goal.

Whom am I speaking of?

Extra hint:
In 2005 he was chosen 2nd greatest man from the Dutch province of Overijssel, just after Willem Kolff, the inventor of the artificial kidney :smug: .

I think you are referring to FC Twente. I remember them reaching the final somewhere in the '70's or 80's.
But I would have to use google to know against who they played or who scored the Dutch goal.

Maybe this extra info will help somebody nail the question. :dunno:

FCT indeed, but I do need to hear who scored the goal!

If he was chosen as a great man, then he surely isn't obscure. And who is the Dutchman? I have no idea, so I'll guess:

Rob Rensenbrink?

I thought your favourite team was Feyenoord and was prepared to throw in Van Hanegen... I don't have a damn clue, but if it's the 70s, I'm still gonna try Van Hanegen. :/

Nope, not Robbie Rensenbrink.

Feyenoord is my favourite within the top 3. There is hardly any fun in only supporting a club like FC Twente.
It's 1975 I'm talking about. Still, it's not Van Hanegem....

In recent years, I'd say Feyenoord isn't much better... :crazyeye:

Willy van der Kerkhof (or the brother for that matter)?

Epi Drost then of course! Only guy I know with a first name like that.

Oh..and it's snowing here.

EDIT: it was against Ipswich? Or was that AZ in 1981 or something?

Epi Drost indeed. And it was against Borrusia Mönchengladbach.

BTW: Epi Drost's record of playing top division matches for FC Twente was only recently broken by Sander Boschker.
