Moran was the first player to be sent off in a final.
That's correct.

Must be a catch somehow...Was a player shown a red card by accident when the ref pulled out the wrong card and then was shown a yellow card?

Not quite. The player in question was sent off. But you're on the right track.

Yellow and red cards weren't introduced until the late 60s (or early 70s). Maybe they were kept out of the FA Cup Final until later, and the players were sent off without being shown red cards.

Very close. So what's the answer?

so just being shown two yellows?

I believe red cards have always been in use whenever yellow cards have been. So it's not a case of a player being shown two yellows but not a red card. In either case, to the best of my knowledge, Moran wasn't even booked. He was sent off solely for the tackle on Reid.

So its someone who was sent off after Moran

I'm guessing Reyes v ManU.

Correct. :goodjob:

My apologies for the horribly pedantic question. I couldn't resist. :)

Cards were introduced by Fifa for the 1970 world cup and in England some time in the '70s. But apparently the FA stopped using them from 1981 to 1987 (FIFA didn't make their use compulsary until 1993). So technically Moran wasn't shown a red card, he was just sent off.

Over to you col!

Nice question.

Only five teams from their nation's capital city have won the European Cup/Champions' League. Name them all

Real Madrid - Madrid (Spain)
Benfica - Lisbon (Portugal)
Ajax - Amsterdam (Netherlands)
Steaua - Bucharest (Romania)
Crvena Zvezda - Belgrade (Yugoslavia)

I assume that the last bit translates as Red Star ;)

All yours MCd

heh unfortunately not. but DAMN was it a good ride... made all the more impressive when you consider the opposite fortunes of our Domestic Season :(

:bump: :mischief: :hatsoff:
