I have some questions about custom game start options:
1. Game speed. What things get quicker and slower then you choose quick, normal, epic or marathon?
2. Does the map size infuence a speed of something? Maybe a technology research for instance.
3. Where can I find a detailed description of all map styles? The names of map styles is not allways informative enough.
4. If time victory is disabled, will the game still last only a particular number of turns or will it last until other form of victory is achieved?
5. Shoreline. How does the natural, pressed and solid options differ?
6. Resorces. How does the standard and balanced options differ?

Welcome to CivFanatics :)

1. Quick, normal, epic and marathon speed changes the pace of which you build units, research etc. Fx when you play Quick, each turn takes more years (that could be like 50 years instead of 30 per turn), but you'll produce and research about twice as fast. Workers also work faster, etc.
On the other hand, Epic speed takes fewer years per turn, but you'll produce etc. slower. The different games actually adds more turns to the game, but you have the same number of units.

2. The map size influences the Mantienance costs from Distance to Palace. The longer your cities are from each other, there more it costs. In larger maps, the cost is reduced.

3. No idea  There should be a post in here somewhere.

4. It will do as you said, wait until other victories are archieved. ;)

5. Natural shorelines makes a more varied shoreline, while pressed should be more boxy, and solid is extremely boxy (As far as I'm concerned. Correct me if I'm wrong)

6. Balanced resources places resources more accesable for all players so nobody'll choke from lack of some kind of military, or on the other hand, health.

Edit: Oops, sorry the welcome, just saw you joined in November 2005 :p

I`m not sure about 1.) and 2.), so I`ll just answer a few of your questions:

2.)I don`t think so
3.)link
4.)you can always continue playing after 2050, so yes, disabling time victory will make the game last until another form of victory is achieved
5.) check the link in 3.)
6.) This is also from the link given in 3.)

Balanced
This script guarantees the key strategic resources are near all civs, knocking out the "risk" to certain civs who require resources for their Unique Units.

Thank you for your answers :)
Yes, I joined the forums a few years ago, but did not write many posts. Usualy I just search and read :)
