Hey guys,

So I made a small map of Tamriel 66x42 (there are a few out there, but they are too big for my taste). Chose the respected civs and locked them in their starting positions, yada yada...

The question is, how to rename the civs and leaders? Or to be more precise how to rename civs properly? You can only give "civilization short name" and "leader name" in scenario editor, but what about "civilization name" and "civilization adjective"? What joy is there to rename Songhai to Hammerfell, if I'm gonna see "Songhai spearmen" running around instead of "Redguard spearmen"... Doesn't make any sense why would it be impossible to do so :/

If there needs to be involved something besides world builder (modbuddy or something), please guide me through? Help will be very much appreciated, I already sinked two days in making the map, kinda want to finish the job. :)

P.S. Why is there "Owned by player 1" text when hovering mouse over your territory? I remember it being "owned by you" or "owned by 'civname'" before? What's up with that? Or was it always like that?

Any help? Also do you guys use some tools (programs or whatever) to take a map of something from internet, put a hex grid on it and then simply recreate it in world builder? I want to put a hex grid on a picture to put it simply... Is it possible? I tried some picture editors but couldn't find an option to put a hex grid on it, or even square grid (I even tried paint :D). Surely this is possible?

Hello.

You actually need to create a mod (see "modding tutorials and reference" in this section). Once you understand how modding works, you will also understand how to add/modify a civilization, units, etc (besides you will probably end up reading Kael's guide which demonstrates how to add a civ). Also you can look at the G&K mods for some inspiration since some of them are mods with their own maps. Finally, I strongly suggest you to use Notepad++ for its great "search in all files" feature, it's mandatory for civ5 modding in order to see how the game designers achieved every feature, since the game itself is your main documentation source.

Now, regarding the world editor, I'm not sure but I think it allows you to put an image in the background, look at the menus.
