One thing I missed in Civ 5 was being able to name your units on the fly, but also being able to track them easily through the UI. In Civ 5, if you custom name a unit, you can only do it through promotions, and it does not reflect anywhere in the game other than when you click on the unit. You couldn't find them in the units list, you couldn't do a search for them by name. This was annoying in games where I focused on military units, and had many units that were of different promotion types. I had to take notes on the side.
Another thing that I would love to see in a Civ game is an in-game unit designer. Perhaps not as in-depth as the unit designers in games like GalCiv, but maybe more along the lines of Superpower 2. Basic art assets, with generational (tech level) stats limits.
Hopefully these two ideas aren't considered "small" because I wanted to make my own thread for them.
