The Resistance
We all laugh with conspiracy theories. But what if they were right all along?
This CYOA was partly inspired by Matrix and crazy internet conspiracy theories.

You are Ian MacDonald, a 23 years old Scottish-American computer scientist and geek. You are sitting in your office in your apartment and surfing in the internet. You type the name of a site which you friend, Michael, told you to check out. “Revolution Now – You are the Resistance”.
“That’s a weird name…”, you remark as you type the name on Google and then click on the website. A simple black page appears and huge cap red letters warn: “IF YOU SEE THIS VIDEO, YOU WILL BE IN DANGER. YOU ALONE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHATEVER HAPPENS NEXT”.
You laugh. “Oh, I am so scared…”
You scroll down and see a link which you click and it leads you to a video. A wrinkled old man with long white beard and hair is talking: “If you are seeing this video, then you will soon realize that your entire belief system is based on lies and propaganda. The Brotherhood of Darkness controls everything; it's an organization which spreads ideas. And those ideas are nothing more than propaganda used to enslave you. Businessmen, intelligence officers, generals, politicians; all of them serve the Brotherhood. They control the media, the police, the army, the political parties and present an illusion of democracy while deciding everything. If you are watching this video, their intelligence officers will have already tracked you. They are coming for you. You must leave as soon as possible or they will kill you. I repeat; your life is in danger!”
You sigh. “Another crazy conspiracy theorist. I wonder where Michael finds all those crazy dudes…”
“You must-“, before the old man could finish his sentence, a buzzing sound interrupted his words and suddenly the computer shut down.
“WTH?!”, you shout. “How did this happen? Oh no… this site must have had a virus. Great!”
The door knocks. You are surprised as it is late in the night and few people visit you. “Who is it?”
“We are from the police!”
Option 1 – Open the door and ask them what business they have in your apartment.
Option 2 – Don’t open the door and hide inside the wardrobe. Hopefully, they will not find you.
Option 3 – Don’t open the door and try to jump down from one of the windows; you are in the first floor and so it will not be really dangerous.
