@Greebley take over as in how? well for the sake of time "sure", just give me another day or 2 to reinstall the good book/cd.

Doh, forgot that I was up in this game. Have been pretty busy with RL these last few days to get ready for the holidays. If I'm reading it correctly cizzlewalk hasn't taking it yet. So I'll see what I can do.

@Greebley take over as in how?
I think he was looking for you to take back the post of what players are up next as the host traditionally does.

Here is my set of turns. And now it's time to celebrate christmas. Merry christmas @all!!

Pre-flight check:
We currently have 5 elephant riders, 2 eagle knights and one ghost dancer ready to make their assault on the American continent. A fair few, but I'd like to have some more before attacking the American continent. MacDandee's remark about the amphibous units in this mod gives me an idea. We can use our inti warriors for a nice first assault on the Americans. So I change our ghost dancer builds
to inti's.

IBT
Our people want the forbidden gardens. What are those? Let's look it up.
Extra culture for our forbidden palace, hmm not necessary I think.

Ya, that is what I was talking about.

I think flexible time limits make sense during the holidays. No rush on this.

Well, naturally :D! I thought he was talking about something else.. my mistake. LK, take your time w/ the turns, I already know you're busy w/ other SGs, so don't worry about posting until sometime after X mas day. Merry Xmas all, good to be back again (almost reinstalled).

840 AD
I don't understand how it is 840AD and the capitol is stuck as a lousy size 5 and NOT growing. The worker priorities where really screwed up. I will get workers back to the core to irrigate and grow the capitol.

I switch several builds. A first ring city with 3 shields should be building solely infrastructure.
I forge is worthless until 4 shields. Why is a 1 shield city building it?

I send Architecture to the Sioux for Siege Warfare, $4/turn and $20.
I send Scholasticism and Siege Warfare to Tibet for Guilds and $31.

I upgrade a couple of units.
(IT) Tibet is building Knights Templar.

850 AD
I am surprised to see we still haven't upgrades serfs / workers to peasants. It improves worker speed, and cost ZERO dollars.

 Why is the game stuck on the Troubadour sound effect? It is one of the more annoying sound effects. If finally stops by me quitting, and restarting civ.

Two units were on go to. Please don't use the go to order.
(IT) Siam completes Leo's Workshop.

860 AD
I switch Cuzco to the Silk Road. This at least gives us some extra revenue.
(IT) The Sioux complete Knights Templar.
Polynesia completes Circus Maxiumus.

870 AD
We land on the American continent.

880 AD
I razed Atlanta down to the ground. I want at least one flip-proof city on that land mass. We pick up 3 workers for our trouble.
Pikillacta is formed near the ruins.

Our civ enters a golden age.

900 AD
I kill some units in Washington, but then the RnG turns on us. I am forced to withdraw for now.

I sell Siam Perspective for Education and $315. This allows us to start to research the optional tech of Music Theory.
I sell Tibet Perspective for Usury and $15.
I send to the Sioux Education, Perspective, wm and $25. I get Gunpowder, Astronomy, and tm.
I ship Siam wm, $98 and elephants and get there complete wm. We can see quite a few civs now. That challenge is how to contact them. I have no idea when contract trading is available in this mod.
(IT) We lose 2 exposed units to America. :(

910 AD
Our troops regroup by the beach head city.
(IT) Siam declares war on Polynesia.

920 AD
I kill 1 American elephant.

940 AD
Boston is razed to the ground gaining 3 workers.

After realizing the Gutenberg's Bible is a better wonder then Bach's I decide to sell Music Theory.
I ship it to Siam for Navigation and $220.
I send Tibet Music Theory and Navigation and get Banking.
I sign peace with Polynesia giving them Music Theory and $390 and getting Map Making.
(IT) Tibet demands silks, but backs down when I refuse.

950 AD
I make first contact with Arabia. They are hopelessly backwards, so I simply trade maps.

Summary:
The palace pre-build is for the Gutenberg's Bible.

Good turns as usual. Our empire is definitely looking more healthy than when I saw it last.

We got the ability to irrigate very late. In fact, I made a mistake and bought it thinking it led to optional techs when it doesn't (my civopedia is wrong). As a required tech that leads to nothing, it should have been the last choice (I traded it instead some other required tech). This variant is very hard simply because it makes you wait so late to get irrigation (we've now had it for 30 turns I think). I do agree we should have prioritized the capitol for irrigation, however, over the more corrupt cities even though it means spending turns moving the workers back. I am glad you fixed this.

I see we have a galley very close to meeting the romans. Remember that movement is slowed by ocean and sea. We don't want to lose the opportunity to meet them because another galley sinks.

It is also good to see we are finally making headway vs the Americans. We will want to get those Horses near Philadelphia. They are the only source on our and the American islands. We also have no saltpeter. I see a source on the island just NE of our that has one. We would have to declare war with the Sioux to get it.

Pucura will want a Major port next so it can grow.

Great job LK, I was afraid there were some players still who were not use to the specifc infrastructure/builds and when to begin them. Seems America is still a problem (even since I left), but considering the variant I understand this is a bit of a hassle. Good calls on fixing the core, why didn't we do that earlier? *sigh*, once I take care of my reinstall (original civ is back in) I can see where we're at...

Greebley I can not take this game for a good while, mind taking your turns now?

Seems America is still a problem (even since I left),
Well they are less of a problem with being down 2 cities. We have two pioneers on the American continent once it is safe to build more cities. I would keep razing the cities. I would like to be to the point of being able to merge our natural workers in to save unit costs.

Once our core is finished then that wouldn't be a problem, but just how good is the American continent for a second base (or is it too far away)... o wait, there are like 4 FPs... DAMN ive been gone awhile!

BTW, even if America gets raped soon... we must kill them off immidiately, don't feel like you can stroll your units into their last city when you feel like you're ready for a new war... JUST DO IT! That's the point of this variant, challenging and quite annoying.

Preturn: Everything looks in order. I hit enter.

IBT: Elephant spotted.

960 AD: Elephant killed netting us a slave.

IBT: An Elephant attacks and kills an Eagle knight.

970 AD: We kill the Elephant

IBT: Siam makes a demand for a Luxury and we refuse. They back down. I am worried that a Luxury deal will ruin our rep as it has a good chance of going through Sioux Territory.

We get Printing Press. Matchlock is up next.

980 AD: Need to raise lux as War Weariness gets worse.
Trade Printing Press for Matchlock and 197 gold.
We trade it with Siam for 146 gold, and spices.
I get Metallurgy for Printing press and 477 gold. Cannons shoot 3 times and thus seem more powerful than normal civ Cannon I suggest we build them. Err... Except we need Saltpeter and don't have it. I should have checked first.

Researching Political Philosophy in 3 turns.

IBT: Some civs start the Gutenburg Bible. I am hoping our prebuild is sufficient.

990 AD: Build a city in American lands. We attack Washington, losing 3 units doing so, but capture it. It has Pyramids so I keep it (free Monument). Also attack Philadelphia. Get a bunch of slaves with our troops.

IBT: Polynesia and Siam sign a peace treaty.

1000 AD: I plant a city southwards. Capture Philadelphia. It is size 1 so worth keeping I think.
Lower science as we get it in one turn.
I consider trading for Saltpeter with Tibet, but it is so expensive. Instead I trade for Physics, Tea, Furs, and change for Matchlock and Map Making.

IBT: Get Political Philosophy and start Absolutism (the two leading civs already have it).

1010 AD: These Inti Warriors are very nice. A 4-2-2 unit to replace a 4-2-1 and I just realized it is only 1 movement point in mountains.
I attack San Francisco.
Trade Pol Phil. for 285 gold from the Sioux. We have 2 techs over Tibet, but that + 576 gold is not enough for Saltpeter.

IBT: We lose a wine deal with the Sioux. Goint to need to raise Lux again...

1020 AD: Attack San Fransisco and capture it (also size 1). I do get another slave. These elephants are great for capturing slaves.
Attack New York. Absolutism is going to be done a turn earlier.

IBT: Not Much.

1030 AD: Attack and raze New York netting 2 slaves (size 4).

IBT: An Elephant attacks and kills an Inti. We get Absolutism and start Humanism.

1040 AD: Attack Miami leaving only a red-lined defender. Trade Absolutism for some gold, Magnetism, and 9 gpt.
We can finally trade Tibet for Saltpeter. It costs Absolutism, Magnetism, and Metallurgy. We can rush a harbor on the American Island now.

IBT: An Elephant Attacks and kills an Inti (I have Eagle Knights coming south, but they haven't caught up yet).

1050 AD: We can now build Cavalier. They have attack 6 instead of 4. Start a few.
I capture Miami. I suggest capturing the rest of the continent rather than razing. We are short on settlers and are getting workers via slaves. Dropping 2 or 3 sizes doesn't seem worth it in our core cities.

Now that we have ocean travel I trade away our Lux to get Merchantilism and Theory of Warfare. We now have all the techs known by the AI's.

Notes:
Paracas is starving to build the Gut Bible quicker.

Our Carrack is heading to Ankara to meet the Ottomans. We want to be able to do more trades and get better prices.. We also have a boat to the North to meet the Romans and Germans.

Also note that our Galleas and War Galley cannot travel over Oceans. We need new boats to do that. I built one Carrack.

We may lose an Elephant in the IBT. I mis-moved. Maybe not though. They don't own Ivory anymore.

I suspect we will be declaring war on the Sioux fairly shortly, but won't be able to do much in the war for a while.

Ancon should build a Port next.

Siam now has nearly 25000 gold!

We are building the Summer palace in Paramonga since it will be high shields.

---------------------------

Macdandee,
You are up. Our position is much stronger now. The irrigation has kicked in and our city sized have jumped. The 2 turns to irrigate really helped us to catch up and the fact we have so much grassland means we could catch up fast.

I do get another slave.
Don't forget for $27 those slaves can be upgraded to a better quality worker. I did that with all them I got during my turn.

The 2 turns to irrigate really helped us to catch up and the fact we have so much grassland means we could catch up fast.
This is exactly why I commented about upgrade serfs / workers to peasants. The slaves also upgrade using $27 each.

Our Carrack is heading to Ankara to meet the Ottomans.
I am confused by this comment. I had a boat that meet Arabia heading down the coast to the Ottomans during my turn.

We need to do the slave to peasant upgrade. We don't have a barracks on the new continent so we need to upgrade all of those, and I don't think I upgraded those I sent across. Next player should check on this.

My boat movement was sub-optimal. I first tried to cross the ocean with the galley to meet Rome, but galleys cannot enter ocean squares at all. It was 40+ turns for that boat to go around. Note that this is still true even though we can now safely enter ocean squares with Magnetism. I think we can upgrade our Galleys to galleons that can enter ocean, but our Galleases will never be able to do so.

Looking at the map, I found that the Arabian boat was closest to meeting the Romans and germans, so it headed North and then East to do so.

For the Ottomans, they placed a town about 12 squares from our capitol, so the capitol built a new boat to go meet them. That is the Carrack I mention.

In other words, I delayed meeting the Ottomans to speed meeting the Germans and Romans. Not sure if this was the correct decision or not though.

Got it!

Wondering if we want to build the summer palace on our main island or not. I realize that it would take a long time on the (soon to be ex) american island, I am just wondering how much good it will do in Paramonga (which is two cities away from our first forbidden). I will leave it there for now and take a break before it completes to get opinions.

edit-got a leader on turn 3...palace to america or army?
