cz4: RaR ()==[];,;,;,;,;,;> The Hitlist

Constitutionalism gives an excelent form of Monarchy with cash rushing available. I already had that established by the end of my round. I started building war monuments to help with potential WW, and working toward the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as more help toward ww.

I got it. CZ is probably busy again.

Note that the Supreme Court and Magna Carter do the same thing - the only difference is that Supreme Court works for all govt types. Going for the Magna Carter means we are planning on sticking to this Govt for a long time.

Preturn: We are only running 30% commerces and 60% science. I switch the Markets to science buildings which are cheaper and benefit us more since we are running higher science than commerce. Bazaars I keep because they also benefit Lux.

Dial down science to 0% and we are still getting it in 1 turn. I look to see if we know anyone that has it. Polynesia does so I buy the last turn for 11 gold. We now are researching Federalism.

Early:
War Cascade continues as Tibet is pulled into the war. They were supplying us with 3 Lux. Washington revolts and I correct some other cities. Raise Lux to 20%.

Buy Nationalism from Polynesia (in case they enter the war too). Research Federalism

Send a fleet after Ottomans. Upgrade our Muskets to Line Infantry.

Polynesia is pulled into the war.

Mid: Land Troops on the Ottoman Coast.
Capture Iznik.

Make Peace with Siam and Sioux.

Research Modern Legal System.
Trade Modern Legal Sytem for Grand War with the Sioux.

Ottoman war has higher losses than I would have hoped due to poor RNG and not enough use of the Cannon.

I capture Istanbul. This is a bit of a mistake. It has the slave trade which gives us unhappiness. I don't want to just abandon the city because we will lose units (we need the radius expansion) In addition our own unhappiness goes up this turn. Since I also made peace we lose war happiness. The result is more unhappiness than we can handle. I raise lux but some cities are too corrupt. The unknown soldier is still far away (15 turns) so I switch some towns to the War Monument. This is actually a very good building for us - 025% WW for forty shields.

F1 Crashes and I need to redo a turn.

Late:
Make Peace with the Arabs and then Enlist their aid vs the Ottomans. This will greatly speed this war. They have units in the Ottoman territories that were coming for us. Hopefully the Ottomans will die quickly and reduce the WW.
Make Peace with Tibet and trade for TOE.

Notes:
There are a lot of wonders to be had. I am currently working on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Encyclopedia both due in 12. We may not get them, but there are other wonders to be had.

We are still at war with Polynesia (and the Ottomans of course).

We are researching Military Tradition. It is due next turn. Noone else has it (we are not sure of Polynesia). We lack Steam Power and Social Darwinism (and perhaps some techs that depend on them). Hopefully we will be able to trade for them.

I got our Lux (3) back from Tibet. I shelled out some gpt for them. Probably not a good trade - I couldn't lower lux without slowing the Encyclopedia.

For the Ottoman war we have units heading to Uskadar. Remember to pound the city with the boats.

We are finishing some science buildings. We probably want to switch to more units after that.

 What happen to my attempt as Smiths? That is an excellent wonder for our economy.

Starting wednesday I'll be having a LAN-party. So please put me on auto-skip for the remainder of the week. Hope you guys don't mind me being gone for a while.

Preturn - Look around and change a few things. Manage to get lux tax down to 20% with just a couple entertainers.

Turn 1 (1360ad) finish military tradition - head for social darwinism (on the way to emancipation). Take and raze Uskudar. Do some fiddling to get the tomb of the unknown soldier a couple turns earlier, this WW is a pain. Trade military tradition to the Souix for steam power+17gpt, and to Siam for 880g. We have two sources of coal.

Turn 2 - Getting units set up for our next assault. Im going to upgrade a few galleons to clippers as we get the money, but I want to keep some cash in reserve just in case of a invasion.

Turn 3 - Siam demands TM and 66g, I cave. Do a little resource denial bombardment to Polynesia and they come to their senses - peace+9g+WM for us to stop. My reward is having to raise the lux tax back up to 30% in order to keep our wonders on the fast track.

Turn 4 - Captured Edrine(size one, dyes in its control with a port). I am using captured slaves for border expansions, and prize ships disbanded in new towns to rush.

Turn 5 - Nakhon Sawan (Siam) finishes Encyclopedie. Give WM+4g for one turn off of social darwinism - emancipation in 6. Switch Paramonga to tomb of the unknown soldier (in 4), Paracas to universal suffrage (in 27).

Turn 6 - Souix and Greece sign a mpp. Set up for assaults on Izmit and Bursa.

Turn 7 - Capture Bursa and Izmit.

Turn 8 - Siam is moving a cavalry in on the gunpowder isle, going to do some quick reinforcements. Attack Antalya, second cuirassier nets a leader and captures the town. They are down to two cities, one in the north on the same isle, and one on the isle two to the east of our main island (which is the new capital).

Turn 9 - Tomb finishes in Paramonga. Siam moves in and is told to leave, we'll probably see next turn if they will sneak us.

turn 10 - Siam declares with troops in our borders, takes out one of our troops but the town holds. Siam finishes Clausewitz's. Arabs finish off the last Ottoman city on their continent, down to one. Head the clipper with the force I sent up that way back. Start bombarding shoreside resources of Siam's. Luxury back down to 20%, emancipation next turn.

Post turn - Looking at the type of fighting we are going to be doing, I focused more of our unit production on marines. With most cities in the game being coastal, I think the naval bombardment/marine route will be more effective than the standard cannon/cavalry route. I still built a fair number of cavalry.
There is a galleon in Machu Picchu with a load of troops that should be sufficient to take the last of the ottoman cities, may want to upgrade to a clipper first though--nice movement boost. I have just dropped a settler off in ex-Ottoman territory on a decent spot. There is a slave there waiting to give his all to expand the new cities border. There is another colonist available in Pachacamac, may want to get that over to ottoman island to keep the Arabs from poaching a city spot, I've already blocked them once.
The leader and some elite cav's are there to board the clipper. I may have pulled too many of the cav's out of that area, if so there are some non-elites on board the clipper west of the island. I left the decision on what to do with the leader with the next player, there are small wonders to build, or we may want our first army.
Pachacamac is now our most productive city, I have been doing nothing but city improvements there.
The rest of the world is generally annoyed with us. Wouldn't be surprised if we were right back in the dog pile. Some of the lesser powers can be bought to our side, but the bigger fish won't.

Keiji is out for the rest of the week, do you want to take it Lkendter?

Seems like I just played, but I got it.

When is CZ coming back?

No idea when Cz will be back. His last post said he couldn't take his turns for a "good while" (that was the 25th of Dec).

I would welcome another player if we could get one. I prefer a team of 5/6 with Cz to a team of 4/5 with Cz.

Cz seems busy to me and has gone for two long stints now. Not sure if things will improve or not in terms of his schedule.

I think the Sioux are going to be up next. They are a bigger civ.

I wonder if we want to ally vs Siam. I have a feeling Siam will just pull Polynesia, et. al. into the war again. The AI is often filthy rich it seems and can buy alliances. I would rather have a general world war than everyone buying in against us.

The Ottomans are DEAD. I want to make sure I do the hitlist rule correctly. I think it is the first civ on the list in the diplomacy screen (Sioux). Can someone confirm this?

1400 AD
I find the military situation a bit scary. I change the military builds to defensive units. This late in the game and we have 2 defense units is some of our cities? We are just asking for trouble from the AI. A big chunk of America has EMPTY cities.
(IT) The Greek / Ottoman trade embargo ends, but is instantly renewed.
Germany and Siam ally against us.
The Polynesians are building Magna Carta.

1405 AD
I ship Polynesia Emancipation and get Industry, wm and $80.
I ship the Sioux Emancipation and $125 and get the optional tech of Sanitation.
We are now researching steel to get to the optional tech of city planning.
The variant can be painful at times as I would have been much happier with Steam Engine and heading toward railroads.

Moche is formed in former Ottoman lands.
(IT) The Greek / Sioux trade embargo ends.
Greece and Siam embargo us.

1410 AD
(IT) Germany and Greece embargo us.
The Germany / Arabia embargo is over.
Siam completes Newton's
Tibet starts ToE.

1415 AD
(IT) The Rome / Sioux embargo is over.
The Sioux and Ottomans embargo us.

1420 AD
The leader has arrived home and will rush the National Monument (war weariness help).
The Arabs and Siam embargo us.

1425 AD
A dragoon can't kill an Ottoman spearman.
(IT) Germany and the Sioux embargo us.
Polynesian and Siam embargo us.

1430 AD
(IT) The Rome and Polynesia trade embargo is over.

1435 AD
 This is one of the most absurd RnG results I have gotten. 2 colonial marines and a line infantry can't kill 2 spearmen. The Ottoman capital holds, and I am going to have to ship more units.

1440 AD
(IT) The Arabs build Shakespeare.

1445 AD
(IT) Unreal, 2 hp Arab unit eliminates the Ottomans.
Siam completes Magellan's Voyage.

1450 AD
As required by the variant I declare war on the Sioux.

==========================

Summary:
We want 1 more district courthouse to head toward the Supreme Court wonder.

With the war starting the last turn of my round I didn't work toward shipping troops toward the Sioux.

Preturn: Last time Siam declared war on us we ended up at war with the rest of the world. Rather than waiting for this to happen again, I want the AI fighting each other. I am therefore going to go for Allies to get the AI fighting amoungst themselves instead of fighting us. This will mean we cannot make peace as soon, but I think it is still of benefit.

Therefore:
Spend 44 gpt to get Polynesia to MA vs Siam and the Sioux.
Give Emancipation to Tibet to MA vs Siam, Sioux, and Germans.
Give Federalism to Arabia to MA vs Siam, Sioux, and Germans.

Since the deals all have alliance vs the Sioux in them, my thought is that if we have to move on to the next civ (Polynesia) on the hit list, the deals will end when the Sioux are destroyed so we don't take a hit in our ability to ally.

I rush a Colonist in Bursa to grab the center of the ex-Ottoman territory before the Arabs do. I also MM some towns of the Ottomans.

Everything else looks good.

IBT: Rome and Polynesia have an MPP so Rome declares on the Siamese.
Greece declares war on Polynesia.

Get City Planning. Marxism is Next.

1455 AD: Send some troops to clear off that Siamese city on the island we share. They keep declaring war on us and that island is vulnerable to attack.

IBT: Rome declares war on the Sioux.
Greece declares war on the Arabs.
Rome declares war on the Greeks.

1460 AD:

IBT: We are at war with Greece due to an MMP with the Sioux.

1465 AD: Land a few units near Lakota. We now have more units near the Siamese town mentioned above.

IBT: Get Marxism (first)

1470 AD: We attack a stack of Siamese near the island city but have absolutely terrible RNG. We do kill 2 of their units but lose 4 even though we bombarded the units before hand.

IBT: A Line Infantry is killed by an injured Siamese unit.

1475 AD: Able to kill 2 Siamese units. Fortunately, I send a goodly number of units over to take out this city, so the attack will continue. We capture Munchen - a random German city.

1480 AD: Kill another Siamese unit

1485 AD: Raze the Siamese city. We now are the only civ on the island. Rush a colonist to replace the Siamese city.

IBT: We get screw propellor.

1490 AD: Trade Screw Propellor for 172 gpt with Polynesia. Trade SP and 140 odd gold for Electricity.
Our units have healed in Munchen. I abandon it and head out.
Our next tech is Thermodynamics in 2. Rep parts is known already.

1495 AD: Land the forces that cleared the island near a Siamese city with a Lux that we can get.

IBT: We get Thermo and start Compulsory Edu.

1500 AD: Decide not to attack the Siamese city as my bombardment is not great. There is also another ship nearby that can help.

Notes:
I have been gathering some forces vs the Sioux, but it was a bit slow as I was also building Infrastructure. We may want to go heavier on the Military when the builds finish.

The attack on Siam is mostly to distract them and keep them from hurting Tibet. We have a Lux deal with Tibet. I would consider replacing the Lux on our side with tech or gpt when it expires so we don't lose our rep.

We have MA's vs Siam, Germany, and Sioux that last 10 more turns. At the end, I would make peace with Siam so we can trade with them. My main goal is acchieved - the AI are no longer at peace with one another. They have the techs we want - high explosives, repeating rifle (cavalry), corperation

Preturn - Interesting situation, nice work on the alliances. The Souix are going to be a pain to take out, with a couple of big, interior cities. I switch a few builds around.

IBT - The Polynesians land a colonist on the recently opened spot on the saltpeter isle, should be able to take the spot first (nice work again Greebley!)

T1(1505ad) - Found Cajamara on the saltpeter island. Bombard and capture Nahkon from Siam (losing one dragoon-the elite.) Upgrade a couple of frigates to iron frigates.

IBT - Rome and Siam sign a peace treaty. Universal Sufferage finishes in Paracas.

T2(1510ad) -

IBT - Rome and Sioux sign a peace treaty. Cumpulsory Education - The Corporation (3) on the way to submarine.

T3(1515ad) - Raze Ratchaburi (siamese - two islands to the east of our main).

IBT -

T4(1520ad) -

IBT - Finish the Supreme Court in Huari.

T5(1525ad) - Raze Mugla (siamese - 2 islands east)

IBT - Tibet and Polynesia sign an alliance. Finish Corporation, Refining next.

T6(1530ad) -

IBT - Sioux and Tibet sign an alliance against Germany. Tibet takes the last Siamese town on island west of the saltpeter island.

T7(1535ad) - Raze Songta (siamese - 2 islands east.) I don't think we want to try to hold non-productive towns on that island.

IBT - Siam and Rome sign a trade embargo against us and a military alliance against the Arabs. Siam drops 4 cavalry next to San Francisco! I've been reinforcing over there, but this could be interesting. Finish Refining, Internal combustion in 3.

T8(1540ad) - Ahh, the troops gathering to head for the Sioux can reach San Francisco. The 4 cavalry are taken out (lost a hussar.) Raze Nadouessioux (Sioux - 2 islands east.) Take Nan (Siamese west of saltpeter island.) Had some outstanding rng luck on the bombardment.

IBT - Tibet and Siam sign a peace treaty.

T9(1545ad) -

IBT - Rome and Siam sign an alliance vs Polynesia.

T10(1550ad) - Trade compulsory education for repeating rifle+wm+21gpt+279g. Raze Yankton (Sioux 2 isles east.)

Postturn - I have the remaining frigates heading for shipyards to be upgraded to iron frigates. Our expeditionary force that cleared most of the towns on the island two to the east of our main are ready to be picked up (though there are some workers over there that will require additional transport.) We are in good shape to get peace with most of the world, and have a nice treasury built up.

Are you back Keiji?

Well, I'm back from the LAN, but unfortunately I'm afraid I don't have much time left to play. It's nearing the end of the semester here, and I'm pretty busy trying to finish up three different assignments for school. Sorry guys... :(
