I've know that for several months; if the mod did not have acivlization based on Rome, and if I didnt knwo about it, I wouldnt have bothered to come here for support for such a unit.
 
ther heavy legion is a scenario specific sor tof unit, useful for depciting the heavy legionary of Trajans wars;

by contrast, the trooper I speak of would be useful for scenarios both historical, and fantasy based because of its more "universal" look to it, and woudl be useful as either a Byzantine and Roman midieval infantry, ro a Byzantien ancietn swoardsman
 
dotn get me wrong; the Heavy legionary is a good unit, and wa sintended as midieval infantry rpelacement for the romans, but... I dunno I suppos eit lacks a certian "pazang" that says darkages....
 
I'd like to hear more. I have the Roman Legion that was made with worker abilities come in in the 3rd era for Thyatis. Are you speaking of something to replace the Swordsman? Well I would except that, as at the moment I'm using a unit that doesn't quite fit the civ. The graphix for the European Swordsman. If anyone could make a Roman swordsman type I would use it. If one's been made then I missed it.
 
well the unit I propose is essentiall fromt he era of collapse, the preluding the dark ages, an era when the Roman army was still mighty, but it lacked effectiv eleadershi, and its might was almost never turned onto the actual foes of the empire, but rather put to use by corurpt and power hungary generals and aristocrats...

anyway, it qwould tak eme a a whiel to find good pics, i just wanted to know if I woudl encounter support from this camp for such a unit because of its multi-role possibilties...

though its harldey the firs ton my list of requested unit ;)

well assuming mr. late 3rd century neve rgets made, Kinboats "reguler" legionary that has said worker naimations shoudl do nicelly; though since you yourself ar eintereste din said 3rd century trooper I'll get lookihn right away for suitable pics
 
slap on some boots, and put grieve leg plates on them, and perhaps replace that eagle with a more proper headcrest 9stright forwards and backwards would be appro[reiate for thsi time frame for any rnakign officer) and you have a damn good centurion for the last effective decades of the Roman military at large

That's pretty sweet. A post legionary unit for this mod won't work as the Mystara is still in the time that Thyatis' only Imperial rival is Hule. Alphatia virtually lost the Wrath of Immortals. They made a trruce with Thyatis and Glantri but they lost their continent so in effect, Thyatis is at it's prime with a great and powerful King and no real threats to their goals of world conquest, except teh before mentioned Hule which is nearly as big, but less organized and chaotic. Hule is more of a steam roller that flattens nearly everything in site and uses more espionage to overthrow governments than force as they are very unorganized and still push on the borders of Darokin and are held back as far as I know so far. But that pic you show is nice and if it was made I would use it as a swordsman replacement.
 
that IS a legionary; it effectivlyl the las tof the "good" legioanries; and indeed, were soem of th emost kick ass troops that Rome had ever put on the battle feild; the emperor Aurelian forinstance essetially reqonored two-thirds of the empire that was in chaos with these troops; and other compitent military leader schooled the enimes of Rome to a leval they had neve rbeen schooled before; but, liek i said earlyer, Good leaders were hard ot comeby, and more often the effec to fthese troops was turned to the gree dof thie rocmmander rather then the good of the empire...

as a side note, i found the real helmet that the model above ha son hsi head;

I'll support the creation of it, in an epic mod or more Roman based mod. It looks cool.
 
What techs do you need? Sorry if I sound eager, but you said you would Pm me, and frankly I'm quite bored, :D. So please stop me from resorting to drawing circles over people's faces, (ala The Ring, a terrible movie) and please just TELL me one tech you need, :D.
 
as a side note I'd also liek to offer my services for searching for suitable concept art for nay units you might need concept art for, except anythign that has to do with bugs and spiders, because they creep the "bejezus" outta me

Well it took me longer than I thought to organize the icons I had downloaded over the last year and sort out those that won't work for the mod. I just started assigning ones that fit last night. There are a few that are in the origianl game, but I want new ones for.
Here is a quick list that will keep you busy till I get it completed, then I'll PM the whole list to you.

At the moment I think I have enough units made. But when I get the beta up and get a look at everything together then you can help me make a list of possible ones needed. If you like. I would love to have you back me on some of these ideas for 2 reasons. You post a lot and you are very persistant. By chance are you a lawyer or detective? Or studying to be one?
 
nah, I'm just a bastard ;) (who happens to be damn good at argumentation, in addition to beign persistent and what not; will hopefulyl suit me well as i would enjoy a career in politics...with a secretary t act as a spell checker, thier will no stoppign me ;))

as for units, I woudl asusme thie rmust be more "civ specific" type units that could be added for humans, and some interesting new ideas that could be added; for instance, persoanlly I have always seen the Goblins as a sort of raider type guys; not really a main battle type trooper, unless assmebled in proper numbers, and with soem enthusiasm...

though that said a goblin raider, or a goblin slaver could be an interesting unit to have...

anyway, that just an example; things like a "goblin raider", or a "Thyatin Legionary" are just examples of "civ specific" type units, though general artwork is just as dandy
 
I agree about the goblins. That is why The Orcs Legion equivelant is the Bugbear. Bigger than men and smart and powerful. The bugbears in this mod would be what would happen if they could be organized by orcs to fight for them. Deadly.
 
Okay, firstly, I want to tell you which icons could already be used without making any new ones..

Forestation- I made a "Nature" tech that looks pretty fantasy-elvish, that could work. It's in my library, link in my sig
The Wheel- Sorry if I sound rude, but what's wrong with the Firaxis one? I don't wannna be mean, but I just want to know what to change
Spirit Guides- I made a really cool magic tech, it could work
Road building- I have the perfect graphic from Ceasar 3, just need to fix my CD drive and take a screenshot. That'll take awhile. ;)
I'll start the other ones soon.
 
Forestation- I'm already using that icon for another tech, but that tech is civ-specific also I believe so I'll just attach it to both.

The Wheel- It's stone. I was looking more for a wagon wheel or something.

Spirit Guides- Already using that for another magic tech, but I think I have come up with something so no worries here.
